Had been to the Fleming's in Newport Beach, CA, had a great time and thought we'd get the same in Palm Springs. Unfortunately this was not the case. While the food was okay (fairly high-priced for such average food), it was the service that put a damper on the evening.
Arrived on time and were seated promptly for an 8 PM reservation. 10 minutes later, our server finally acknowledged us, bringing us the wine list/menu, then proceeded to rattle off the specials. He then disappeared without offering us a cocktail. After waiting for him to return from the open kitchen (where he was in deep in conversation with another server), I actually had to ask one of the bus-staff to get his attention. When he returned, we ordered drinks, then he tried to upsell us on their wine specials. After our cocktails, we were ready to order (Mixed green salads, Petit Filet, New York strip, with asparagus and mashed potato sides -- also a Napa Cabernet). Again the upsell was pushed, but this time on the steaks, "offering" to make them Wellington style (??? why ???). And even though we'd already ordered wine, he again pushed the specials. At this point I began to think that his disregard of our choice in wine was due to a difficulty in hearing us. Food and wine arrived and was decent. My wife and I were just a few bites into our steaks and in deep conversation, when our server was at our table pushing the dessert specials. At this point I was a bit exasperated and I asked him if he could wait until wed finished our entrees. After wed finished I once again had to have the bus-person find our server so we could order coffee and dessert. All in all it quite a disappointment service-wise (although the bus-staff was very cordial and prompt). Next time Ill go with LGs or another steakhouse in town, there are many.
Pros: Good food, wine and cocktails - nice loud ambience
Cons: Service, no valet parking, mall parking lot
