i love the theatre at this place. the service and the food are horrible. i've had muliple bad experiences. the servers are rude and innatentive. for those of you ordering food...

Watch a movie... have a beer 1/7/2006

The Bagdad offers a unique experience to drink a beer while you enjoy a movie. The traditional style theater has a historic feel and some of the back seats also provide a small table for your food and drinks. Depending on how much you drink... the actually movie sound is pretty poor. I would go there for the experience of pub eating, beer drinking and movie watching... then to actually enjoy the movie. All the shows are second run, inexpensive and viewed on the big screen. more

Yes, that's spelled correctly -- without the "h" -- this is one of Portland's last remaining classic old-time theaters, located along a busy road and revitalized area known as Hawthorne. In recent years, it's become part pub, with light fare such as sandwiches, salads, pasta, pizza, and of course, a good selection of local beers. more

Love this theatre 8/16/2005

This is one of those places that will hopefully be around forever. It has a long history, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I love going to see movies here, and I love their pizza. I just wait till they get a movie I wanna see, because admission is so much cheaper. I can get a slice of pizza and a movie ticket here for the price of a moviet ticket at a major theater. more

Pizza and a movie 8/10/2005

Located in the heart of the Hawthorne district, the Bagdad is a great place to have dinner and a movie without having to make two different stops. Unlike most McMenamin's theatres in the Portland area, this theatre is a pizza only location. However, their pizza is rather tasty, and a nice compliment to any of their fine microbrews. more

Don't miss out on this great establishment! 8/10/2005

Wow, only one word describes this place. Wow... This place rocks (as do all the other McMenamins establishments). This spot is an old theater (opera house I think) turned into, basically a large bar / movie theater! For $3 you can get a movie, add another couple bucks for a slice of pizza, and you're set. You can sit downstairs, or sit upstairs in the classic balconi. The design of the venue has an Arabian feel, so be prepared to have a great time! McMenamins is a great place for fun and friends, so bring a few along and enjoy yourselves! more

Movie Theates With BEER! 7/14/2005

The Bagdad is my favorite theatre. Your experience here is a genuine one. The old fashioned paramount theatre has an elegant appeal and the audience makes you feel at home. Viewers are relaxed and have a more interactive attitude than at the usual sterile surroundings you experience at general theatres. You can have a choice of pizza and other excellent foods, as well as have most any drink you desire, hard or soft alcohol included. I say you have to experience it if you want to experience Portland~ more
