you wouldn't know it from the maple road 4/28/2005

I had a business meeting at McMahons with about 12 very hungry men. The steak was out of this world, it melt in our mouths. I had the sirloin tuscan style and when I tell you it blows all the other steak houses in Buffalo away. The owners are very personable and where ever you turn one is right their to talk to which I like very much. Will go back again and again. You must go and try it. Pros: to many to list Cons: there is not any more

Very good steaks 4/2/2005

My wife and I just ate at McMahon's this evening. My ""prime"" top sirloin was very good -- the best steak I've had in a long time. My wife's filet mignon was OK, but then again I don't especially like filet. I didn't especially like the garlic bourbon smashed potatoes -- tasted too much of sour cream for my taste -- and I really didn't like my wife's smashed sweet potato, but she liked it. The service was good, although I should note that the place was nearly empty (after 9pm on a snowy/rainy Saturday night). The waiter was very gracious when I informed him that the asparagas was overcooked, which it truly was; he struck it from the bill. Readers should know that McMahon's changed ownership recently, so older reviews may not reflect the restaurant now. Pros: Good steaks, Good service Cons: Expensive more

awesome steak 1/12/2005

New owners did a great job in transforming this restaurant into the old McMahons. Food is of excellence as is the staff. Owners frequented the tables. I love that and the steaks melt in your mouth. Blows EB Greens away. Highly recommended. more

I popped in 2/4/2003

one night with modest expectations but was very pleasantly surprised. I dined alone this evening. The setting was comfortable and moderately intimate with a huge flower arrangement (was it in the center of the room?). Service was unprentientous and attentive. The food was outstanding and exceeded my expectations. I wish I had ordered the shrimp cocktail, they were huge (and very expensive). My NY Strip was cooked right- Medium was red and barely warm in the center. The portion was a bit smaller then I am used to but was thick enough to be very juicy. McMahon's compares favorably to my standard of excellence, Morton's in Chicago on State st. Outback and S&S aren't even in the same league. more

Overpriced, and not that good 1/7/2003

Granted, the steak itself was good, but for about $15-20 less I could have gotten a similar steak at Scotch 'n Sirloin or even the Roadhouse Grill. Cons: Expensive, Ala carte menu more

Dissapointing! 11/20/2002

Based on CitySearch's description, I expected much more. 2 of the 4 walls are covered with mirrors. All 4 walls are filled with 1 row of paintings. It looks like someone tried to make it look fancy but failed terribly - and don't look at the ceiling. Our waitress got pretty much everything wrong and made it look like she did us a favor for not charging us for some of her mistakes. Food was good but nothing extra for the price. Pros: Decent food Cons: Not cozy at all, Bad service, Expensive more

Not worth the money!!! 11/1/2002

I'm sorry to say that McMahon's did not live up to our expectations. While the food was ""very good"" the service was not quite so good. Our server was not very attentive and he only had 3 or 4 tables. I had to ask two other servers to get us another round of drinks and we were there for 1 and 1/2 hours for just the 2 of us. One appetizer, no salad and 2 entrees. Our bill was $70.00. Pros: Good food Cons: slow service more

No chains! 8/12/2002

McMahon's has great steak. Much better than all the generic chains of ""steakhouses."" more
