Seacoast Medical Center opened as an outpatient facility in October of 2000. For more than 10 years, it has been providing comprehensive imaging and diagnostic services, outpatient surgery services, rehabilitation programs, cardiac rehab, and emergency care.
In 2004, a certificate of need was filed and that same spirit of community partnership was evident when work began to bring inpatient beds to Seacoast Medical Center. It would take several more years of petitioning before construction could begin in 2009. On July 11, 2011, Seacoast Medical Center opened its doors as a 50-bed hospital. Designed with the ideal healthcare experience in mind, the new inpatient addition consisted of 32 medical/surgical beds, a 10-bed progressive care unit and an 8-bed intensive care unit.
To keep pace with the changing needs of its growing communities, Seacoast Medical Center had to look toward the future with a strong vision of healthcare. In late 2011, the board of commissioners for Loris Community Hospital District unanimously made the decision to enter into a partnership with McLeod Health. This partnership represented a new beginning for two long-time, highly respected healthcare organizations that share a similar mission and philosophy of care. On January 1, 2012, Seacoast Medical Center unveiled its new name, McLeod Seacoast.
