McHenry Outdoor Theatre

Being one of the only drive in theaters left, they have kept up with it quite well! They always have 2 movies showing. The first one is a newer movie, the following one is usually a little older, but you get 2 movies for the price of 1 if you are willing to stay that long. The prices are very reasonable considering what you pay in a regular movie theater these days! more

McHenry Outdoor Theatre is only one of three drive-ins in Northern Illinois and it may not be around much longer. Where else can you go to see two first run movies and bring in your own food for only $6.00? Plus there is the nostaglia of a drive-in for most of us. The food, like any good movie theater, is overpriced, but you can bring in your own. Come early to stake out a good spot and if it's a nice night, bring your chairs and sit outside of your car to watch the movie (just don't forget the bug spray). You can listen to the movie either through the speaker you hook on your window or through a station on your car's radio. Now you can keep your windows rolled up and the mosquitos out! Don't let this drive-in die out. Go there and show them there is a need for this here. more
