Love the new store 4/19/2018

I was just in the new store just across the street from the old place it’s light bright and easy to fine all the great wines I wanted. Everyone in the store was helpful and pleasant to me and my friends. Prices were UES typical but fast in and out. That has a value. I will be back !! more

Overcharged on wine 11/10/2013

I was sold a 2012 bottle of Broadley pinot for the same price as the 2911. There is a $20 difference! I looked it up after I tasted the 2012 bottle and was disappointed. I knew I had been ripped off the minute I tasted it. Unfortnately, I have had this experience in different forms at most wine stores in NYC- various forms of bait and switch. I guess if you live here, its best to order on line. more

Terrible 10/11/2011

I asked them to recommend a white and a red within a certain price range for a dinner party. I was humiliated by the swill I ended up having to serve and ultimately THROW OUT. I will never go back. I think they deliberately guided me towards unsellable bottles. I know they are an institution but they need to go out of business. more

Worst UES Wine STore 7/1/2010

How do I dislike this store? Let me count the ways. The staff is out-right rude. Did any of their parents ever mention that the magic words are "please" and "thank you"? You'll hear none of those words here. The selection is limited. The prices are stupidly high. Go to Mr. Wright's for a much improved shopping experience. more

If you like surly counter clerks, this is your place 7/1/2010

If I could give this store negative stars, I would. On a good day, their counter clerks will interrupt their conversations to ring up your purchase. But beware, the ladies have very few good days. Generally, the check-out clerks act as if they are doing you a favor to ring up your purchase. And don't ever expect a "thank you" for your business. Beyond inattentive service, McCabe's offers a limited selection of over-priced wine and liquor. I'd walk a mile before I'd spend another dime in this store. more

McCabe's Wine Store 1/4/2007

I only go to this store since it's near the 77th St subway stop. It's ho-hum in selection (small store). The prices are a bit higher than I can get at bigger wine stores (MisterWright; Astor, for example. The help is okay. I found an Italian Bonarda which was a rare find and relatively inexpensive. more

Type the title here for your review of McCabe's Liquor Store 9/20/2006

I think McCabe's is actually pretty cool. The manager there, I think his name is Trevor, is an expert on anything and everything regarding wine and spirits. If you ask to talk to him, he's always willing to help, and he's a nice guy too. He also knows a very great deal about Kosher wine, and that's something I haven't run into very often. If you haven't found the staff helpful and you want some expert advice, just ask for him. I always do and I always leave quite satisfied. more

Fine place to pick up some booze 1/11/2006

McCabe's Liquor Store has been long established at this location on the Upper East Side. It's adequate selection and reasonbly friendly staff make it a fine place to buy liquor. I don't have anything really great or really terrible to say about McCabe's. The selection is good and you'll always find several choices of what you're looking for. It's not the kind of place where you'll linger, though, because they're not especially helpful. more

UES Local Wine Shop 12/12/2005

Located on a busy corner at Third Avenue and 77th Street on the upper east side, this neighborhood liquor store has a good selection of wines and stronger spirits. Courteous and quick service. Their prices are reasonable. They also have some gift bottles and obscure liqueurs like Celtic Crossing. They are open long hours and offer prompt delivery. Credit cards accepted! more

Basics but nothing exciting 8/15/2005

This local wine store has some good selection but like most liquor stores in NYC it doesn't make the wine buying experience part of the enjoyment. A good selection of wine from around the world but the foucs is on the European and Califormia standards. Not much from South Africa or South America. The staff doesn't come across as people I'd really want to take a recommendation from. more
