Great Fish and Salads 11/2/2011

Started with the dinner salad with Blue Cheese dressing which is the best dinner salad I have ever had in a restaurant, consistent. Main Course was Grilled Trout, Vegetable saute', and Tomato's for the side. (You can also get a baked potato or other sides, but I am on a diet). The trout was perfect and the Vegetables were my favorite vegetables at the restaurant, saute'd squash, peppers and other veggies, I highly recommend this Milwaukie restaurant more

Our Out of Town Guests Loved This Place! 9/27/2010

Had guests from North Carolina 2 weekends ago and then guests from California 1 week ago and took them both to McGrath's. On the first visit I had the Crab Crusted Trout and it was the best fish dish I have ever eaten. Salads were wonderful but the shrimp and crab cocktails are really small, not worth the money. On the second trip, I had the Crusted Salmon Salad which was also excellent. Our out of town guests loved the place, and raved about everything except the crab and shrimp coctails. They loved the oysters on the half shell. This is a very consistent high quality restaurant for a reasonable price. We also loved the red wines, Merlo and Cab. more

Best Seafood in Portland 2/18/2010

We have been going here for 15 years and never had a bad meal, the salads that come with the meals are the best in Portland. The have about 12 different types of fresh fish and they really know how to cook it. We like the trout, hallibut, and blackened salmon. The Catfish with spicy sauce is excellent too. Simply the best Seafood in Portland and a very good price. We see a lot of people getting meals to go too while we wait. Pros: Fresh Fish, Tasty Cons: Long wait after 5PM to get a table on Weekends more

Stay Clear of the Crab Louie Salad Unless You Have Had Your Stomach Stapled 5/28/2008

We have enjoyed McGrath's for years but we were really disappointed on 5-27-08. We had crab louie salads and they really skimped on the crab. The salad was all lettuce, some diced tomatoes, 4 cucumber slides, diced bell peppers and about 1/2 cup of crab. I called the next day and was told the crab was pre-measured so all salads were uniform. They charge a nice price for this salad so I think they should increase the amount of crab they ""pre-measure"". Service was great as usual. If I had a business in this economy, I would have offered us a complimentary dessert or something. We are disappointed. We now call it ""McShrimp! more

Average food, slightly above average pricing 12/18/2006

I have dined at McGrath's 4 times and only once did I enjoy myself. The food is average, the service is average and the menu prices are a bit high. I think your money would be better spent at Newport Bay or Red Lobster.\r \r 2 times I was there they did not have ingredients to make a certain drink on the menu. What kind of place does not stock ingredients for drinks they advertise?\r \r I also tend to be a slightly picky eater, meaning I do not want certain things in my food. For a professional waitress this should not be a problem. At McGrath's it was a problem 2 times. \r \r Overall I was not impressed with this place and even though I live 4 blocks from there, I will make the drive to eat good seafood somewhere else. more

Great seafood 11/13/2006

This place has great seafood. I have had the lobster, crab, salmon, shrimp and the prices aren't too bad either. The service is always great and this is a great date night spot as well. Pros: Great food. Cons: Too far away from me more

Best around 7/17/2006

Our Favorite Portland Restaurant 6/15/2005

We continue to go back to this restaurant for their wide variety of fresh fish dishes. I am impressed with everything about this restaurant, the food, the service, and the value. Everything is always gourmet tasting, and is consistent. The four of us go here at least 2 times per month and they continue to please us with new dishes using their fresh fish. The appetisers are wonderful. They gave us a free appetiser sampler for calling our opinion into a 800 number. I love their wine by the glass, especially the upscale Merlot, which comes in a large glass, the best. We also like the new Beaverton location but spent most of our money at the Milwaukie location since our friends live in Milwaukie. Try it, you will like it! You can call and put your name on the wait list 2 hours prior to arrival, no reservation system. Pros: Value, Fresh Fish, Service Cons: Sometimes a Wait more

Exellent Food, Friendly Service! 3/19/2005

My husband and I have been eating at McGrath's for years. We have never had a bad experience. The food is tastes great, good menu selection, good size portions, friendly staff, and good price (considering all of the above it's a steal). Becuase they are so good, you may have to wait awhile to be seated. I would recommend it to anyone! Pros: Great Food!, Relaxed Atmosphere, Friendly Service Cons: Some wait to be seate more

Very Fresh Fish 1/28/2004

This is a place we continue to return to because of the variety of fresh fish from salmon, scallops, shrimp, mahi mahi, catfish, razor clams, halabut, and my favorite starter... oysters on the half shell. Wonderful sauces, great wine, and everything is good. The salad that comes with dinner is exceptional. Great food and great service at a good price! more

Always a winner!!! 8/30/2003

Calamari starter if fabulous! The most tender you'll find in PDX, the aoli sauce is to die for! They do great fish/chips, and the array of fresh fish is incredible. I wish there was one closer to town, but we'll make the trek just for the great food and service. THE BEST VALUE for FRESH SEAFOOD IN PDX!!! Pros: excellent food, service Cons: noisy at times, crowded more
