The Roselle McDonalds has decided that it is too much work to accommodate patrons with allergies. That is nearly the exact quote I got from the shift manager yesterday when I asked my Burrito Meal be served in a bowl rather than on the flour tortilla.
The manager told me their store had decided to no longer accommodate special request since it complicated the work for the kitchen.
This is appalling. I am a very realistic person and after working 3 years of college in a kitchen I understand that their are certain levels of "pre-assembly" within a commercial kitchen. I therefore do not expect to be able to order an item when my allergy violates a part of the pre-assembly. In this case however, the egg, cheese, and pepper mix is scooped into the tortilla at the time of serving. I have had this request accommodated at MANY McDonald's including this one in the past.
This is simply a store manager who has decided in my assessment that those of us with allergies need to just suck it up and eat the food how served rather than inconveniencing his staff to accommodate our varying needs. That is ridiculous and his store has certainly lost our families business.
