Some of the other reviews that have been written are borderline slander and outright lies. The fact that the lobby is often so full is a testament to how good a doctor he is. If he mistreated or ignored patients, the lobby would be empty because no one would want him as their doctor. He doesn't abuse children in any way whatsoever, and he is very good at discerning which medications to use and at what dosage. I asked how long he's been in practice and he said 15-20 years, with some patients that have continued to see him for 15+ years.
They also moved to a new, cleaner looking office with a much larger lobby, probably twice the size of the old one.
Sometimes it may not appear like he's listening to you, but he is. The reason he sometimes doesn't ask the children to come in is because they can't properly communicate their problems. The parents live with the child 24/7, so they know enough to tell Dr. Mayfield everything he knows.
Give him a chance, and if you have a problem, ASK. The receptionists are overloaded at times, but if you mention you'll switch to another doctor if they don't fix the problem, I think they'll take it seriously.
Summary: Dr. Mayfield is the best psychiatrists in the Gwinnett county area, and one of the top psychiatrists in all of Georgia. If you stick with him, he WILL get you well.
