If you like bad service, bad quality, and a bad atmosphere, then May Bridal and Formal Wear may be for you.
The first thing that crosses the mind when you enter May's is the stench. The place reeks of plasticizers, which is somewhat odd for a formal dress store. After suppressing your gag reflex, one quickly notices why: the stor is littered with gowns made from the ""finest"" fibers mass produced by petrochemists. At first, I shook my head and wondered, ""did I end up in Big Lots by accident?"" Then I looked at a price tag and was stunned.
They seriously wanted me to pay 200-300 dollars for something that frankly Walmart would scoff at as too low quality. The audacity of selling goods at such a mismatch between pricing and quality made me laugh so hard that tears came to my eyes. Then again, that may have just been the stench making me high.
But, as a looked around, any "" model glue sniffing"" induced happiness was soon crushed. The crack staff at May Bridal could almost psychically sense any joy, and rush in to squash it. The entire time, we were accosted by ladies with helpful tidbits such as ""Don't stand there"" or ""Try that on faster"", and ""no talking."" Apparently, my BFF and I were not to enjoy the gown shopping experience at all.
The one true reason to go to May Bridal and Formal is to see the gowns themselves, for much the same reason people enjoy watching the show ""swamp people."" The store has enough choices of glittery fake flowers, gaudy colors, and trashy low cuts to satisfy any inner trailer park queen fantasy. It was like some bizarre time warp had taken us out of an upscale Sugar Land mall store next to Macy's and transported us to the darkest of Appalachia. It was all quite breathtaking, but not in a good way.
So, if you are into smelly environments, low quality, and horrible service, then May Bridal and Formal is the Place for you. Otherwise, you would be better off avoiding it like the plague, and going to any of the other fine, fine area bridal shops for a good experience.
