Hot dogs at Max's are a beach tradition. Just a block off the beach and facing Ocean Boulevard, Max's is a perennial stop for many area celebrities. Inside you'll find a restaurant built for the beach crowd -- sand and salt water won't hurt much of the floor or furnishings. You'll find autographed photos of the restaurant's famous visitors, as well as those of winning race horses lining the walls (Monmouth Park Racetrack is nearby.)
Hot dogs, hamburgers and fried foods are on the menu - just what you'd expect at the beach. The hot dogs are distinctive in taste and texture and are worth a try.
""Mrs. Max"" operates the cash register and by being a fixture, is as much a celebrity as those whose pictures line the restaurant walls. If you can get her to crack a smile you will have achieved the near-impossible.
Pros: Proximal to beach, Long Branch Tradition, Hot Dogs
Cons: , Pricey for hot dogs, Unamused cashier
