"Da Kine-Da Best" 1/18/2010

The best potato chips anywhere ever! They are an acquired taste I agee, but they border on addiction. Shame on Frito Lay and others to dare attempt to copy this original chips. I first tasted them staying at a hotel in Kaanapali in 1975. I thought they were stale. Then I kept eating them and housekeeping kept leaving a bowl everyday. Soon it was two bowls a day, and finally I went to the factory to see for myself. You can only get them in Hawaii, and I don't care if they are supposedly not good for you--there is simply NOTHING like them in the world--at any price. Potatoes, salt and cottonseed oil. Awesome bruddah. I feel bad returning to the mainland knowing I won't get Maui Chips until the next time I return. It's no wonder we ONLY come to Maui when we visit Hawaii. dond@pacbell.net more

Great tasting chips 8/28/2005

Since they taste so good I'm sure they have to be on a "not a great healthy thing for you to eat list." Once in a while you just gotta indulge, and this is one way to do it. The chips are fried, not baked, and they are crispy, crunchy, and salty. They are thick, not flimly , and they are filling. If you're looking for great souvenirs, you can order a case of small bags to take home with you. more

Crunchy Munchies 8/13/2005

Love these chips! They are the thick, old fashioned kind, with lots of salty taste to them. You can see the pieces of potato skins sometimes, and that's fine with me. When you want something salty and something crunchy this, without question, fits the bill. You can call the factory and arrange to pick up a case to take with you when you fly to a neighbor island or home to the mainland. more

It's a matter of taste 8/7/2005

It seems that people either love these chips to the point of addiction or they simply hate them. The chips are thick, and have remnants of the skin on them, and they are salty. Crunch, crunch, crunch and they are gone in the blink of an eye. You will see these packaged chips in the picnic lunches that visitors buy, and for sale in local stores. Try em, you may become addicted too And if you need a case to take home, call the factory and they can help you get one. more
