I haven't even been there... and now I never will. 8/10/2008

In calling about a specific issue with an automatic transmission torque binding, of which I had gathered a fairly comprehensive understanding of the issue and its causes, I was completely blown off by the service department representative. He explained to me in great detail that "torque binding has nothing to do with your transmission," and that my symptoms of tight steering and tight drivetrain have "nothing to do with your transmission." He then instructed me that he didn't "have time for this," and that I should just bring it in so that they could see what's going on with it. (pssst -- $100 later!). All this after waiting 4 1/2 minutes on hold in the middle of my work day to inquire about giving them business. There are exactly 4 service bulletins out on my vehicle, according to the NHTSA... he informed me that the 1997 has over 30 of them, and (again) that I should "just bring it in." If I only had the stupidity. Avoid this terrible service at all costs. I have, and now I'm better off. Ithaca has a much better Subaru dealer. pricey and poor service 1/6/2008

I needed to get work done under warranty so needed to go here and they were supposed to be doing a brake check according to the 60,000 mile service list and while there they told me I needed get my front brakes replaced even though just two months prior I replaced them myself after getting the rear ones done there at great cost earlier in the year and them telling me they were low at that point and when I replaced them I still had 25% of the pad left a month after they wanted to do them previously. Needless to say I was a bit wary of their brake inspection with them thinking they needed to be replaced at 6,000 miles/2months old. I also went in to have a part replaced waited 2 hours before they came out to tell me they didn't have the part??? I made the appointment specifically only for that part??? Was there on time waited and they didn't even have the part to fix it with?? Couldn't they call and reschedule with me instead of making me miss time off work for nothing? Pros: Good deals for buying your car Cons: not very customer friendly servicing of your car more
