Great food, great service, great atmosphere... you can't ask for more! We'll be back!

Too bad 9/20/2011

It's really a shame. Back when the Palmer family owned the Lowell Inn dining in the Matterhorn Room (or either of the other two rooms) was truly a special treat. The food, service, and hospitality were all first rate - and overseen by people who really cared. My wife and I, often with others, enjoyed the Matterhorn Room on several occasions back in the 70's and early 80's. It is now not even a shadow of what it once was. more

Sunday brunch was awful 2/15/2010

I joined a group for brunch on 2-14-10. We ate in the garden room. I would not recommend the brunch to anyone. The food choice was small, the food was not hot, the scrambled eggs were dense and dry. The first batch of au gratin potatoes I tasted was ok, the next batch tasted different and had a bad aftertaste. It was definitely not worth the money! Pros: Garden Room is pretty. Cons: Food was not good. more

Surprised 12/11/2005

After reviewing the four reviews listed (from 2002), I wasn't looking forward to going to the Lowell Inn for lunch to redeem a gift certificate. I was surprised by the wonderful staff and the pleasant food. However, the crab cake did come out slightly black. Besides that, the experience was great. Gift this place a try. Pros: Parking Cons: Prices more

Lowell Inn - Rip off! 9/12/2002

We bought a $250 gift certificate for our parents (over 70) for Christmas so they could enjoy a fall visit to the Lowell Inn. The Lowell Inn changed management and will not honor the certificate. This is not a good representation of customer service if you ask me! more

Fondue, yes, Stay the night, no 9/12/2002

The fondue was fun and the shrimp were great. Expensive but was glad to have experienced it. Wait staff was good. Good for dinner but I wouldn't stay at the Inn. more

stop! don't go! 9/8/2002

I heard the Lowell was resting on its reputation, but then I went recently just because someone gave us a gift certificate. WHAT A JOKE. What a ripoff! Apparently, the new owners have tried to update the place, but all we experienced was shoddy service, mediocre (canned?) food, and incredibly high prices. Sensing our dismay (it was hard to conceal), even a staffer quietly pulled me aside and admitted the kitchen staff that was turning the place around had been fired and replaced with lower-paid (poorer) cooks, that the new owners were ruthless, and that she herself was soon quitting. Arghhh! Save yourself from this tired place! Cons: all more

huge dissapointment 6/24/2002

A long family tradition of enjoying this establishment is at an end. Our other party was 10 minutes late, and we would have understood a delay, but not the surly and rude way we were shown to the table. There was dried food on two of our plates and one of the knives. The food was marginal and the service indifferent. more
