My favorite Japanese spot in town. The sushi is always fresh, the prices are great for the quality, the service is prompt, and they're renovations make the place look really nice. Just a nice atmosphere overall, too. more

I am being generous giving this place a 5 but overall they rock! Especially when compared to other sushi places in the area and price point...such as Sushi Samba and Sushi Maki. The only issue they are having is keeping up w. demand. So far they are riding the wave of demand to their favor...i.e. Not good for you if you are a party for two...they have no issue skipping over you to service the big partys. And the restaurant is bring in the big parties, not uncommon to see people waiting outside. I've started to order for pick up but then again I live in the area...Favorites...Birds Nest...Hip Hop Roll...Chick Teriaki+sushi rice...if you have room for dessert try the fried banana eggrolls : ) Pros: Yum! I've eaten at nearly every sushi place in the county, and this is probably the best not counting the Japanese Market in North Bay Village. But the two are so different, it's really like comparing apples and oranges. Matsuri used to have decent sushi and so-so atmosphere but all that changed about a year ago when they closed for renovations. Now, both the decor and the menu have greatly improved. The quality of sushi is terrific. My favorite thing on the menu is a 9 piece sushi plate with otoro, uni, amaebi, and other delicious treats.\r \r Another great thing is that they have terrific steak teriyaki. I'm married to a non-seafood eater, but she loves to go to Matsuri's, because they consistently make a great rare and tender steak just the way she loves it. more

Excellent restaurant at the western end of Coral Gables. The sashimi here is excellent as well as most other items on the menu. This is the third best sushi restaurant in miami. My top choices would be(in order) Sushi Ko, Akashi, Matsuri. What's best is that they are all within 10 minutes of each other! Pros: Good food, reasonably priced more

As a transplant from NYC, I was sorely disappointed in Miami sushi offerings -- until I found Matsuri. It is the best quality sashimi in the city -- as well as very easy on the wallet. Also, you will be reassured that you are in the right place when you see how many Japanese-speaking guests are sitting next to you at the sushi bar. I have been going to this restaurant for years and always tell people about it. Don't let the strip mall scare you away. The sushi is the freshest around and while the service is rushed, it is friendly service with a smile. Warily, I go to other sushi restaurants and always regret I didn't go to Matsuri!! I do like this place but I still have discretions with it. The ambience is off-colored and there was a lack of service. But still the dishes served here, aside from the sushi, were lvery authentic Japanese cuisine. I highly recommend this restuarant outside of the beach. more
