I've eaten at nearly every sushi place in the county, and this is probably the best not counting the Japanese Market in North Bay Village. But the two are so different, it's really like comparing apples and oranges. Matsuri used to have decent sushi and so-so atmosphere but all that changed about a year ago when they closed for renovations. Now, both the decor and the menu have greatly improved. The quality of sushi is terrific. My favorite thing on the menu is a 9 piece sushi plate with otoro, uni, amaebi, and other delicious treats.\r

Another great thing is that they have terrific steak teriyaki. I'm married to a non-seafood eater, but she loves to go to Matsuri's, because they consistently make a great rare and tender steak just the way she loves it.
