"My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant when a family friend asked if we want to meet with her in this great Japanese restaurant in Huntington Beach. When we arrived around 7, the parking at the plaza was horrible. Virtually there were no space available. I had to park the car around the corner. Once we stepped into the restaurant, our friend wanted to sit at the sushi bar, however the wait on a Thursday night at the sushi bar was 1 and 1/2 hours. Therefore, we just sat at the first available table instead. When we ordered, our friend instructed the waitress to ask the chief at the sushi bar to prepare our rolls instead. She indicated that there is a big difference in quality if you do not specified that.
The first dish that cam was the beef teppan. The beef teppan that we had was so-so. We definitely had better. Even my friend who is a frequent quest at this restaurant was surprised by the quality of the teppan beef. She indicated that the beef should have been very tender, but since our order was not great, I can not comment.
After teppan, we had spider roll, cucumber roll, Caterpillar roll, toro, one night stand (this is not on the menu item, and is actually a name of a roll), yellow tail bowl (or ball, not sure), and (salt) eel roll. The sushi were not bad. One night stand has a smoked avocado to provide the crunchiness. The yellow tail bowl (ball) has raw quail egg with masago on top. The salt eel was smoke to perfection with a slight hint of sweet taste to it.
Overall I think the quality of food was okay. Service is not bad as well, but nothing really stood out versus other typical Japanese restaurants in S. Cal. The most memorable dish of the night, I will probably had to say was the eel roll. I am usually not a big eel person, but the eel roll at this place really had changed my mind."
