Matrix seemed like a good deal: low price, underground parking, and plenty of machines. There are a lot of negatives: it's not clean in the mornings, there is a male worker who ""cleans"" the women's locker room in the mornings when the female customers are trying to shower, etc, and management ignores members' emails/requests. I've been a member for several months. The positives are: it's always clean, there is free underground parking and you will always get a machine. I've gone a few times on Sunday mornings -- only to find that the person who is supposed to open hasn't shown up! Usually people wait around until someone comes to open the place. It should open at 7 am but I've gotten there as late as 8.30 am only to find several other members hanging around. I also came in once during the early morning and found the woman on the desk brushing her teeth in the sink that is used to prepare drinks. Management should institute a few rules at the front desk about that sort of behavior. The classes are standard fare and the instructors can be found at other local gyms. this place was warm and friendly from the second i walked in the door, There staff greeted me liek they knew me forever. I was directed to a manager within in a few minutes to be shown the club, i was originally just interested in there free 14 day trial( yes ppl, it is real they give u 14 days for free) but after the tour and how i was treated there and all teh equipment and classes i was lookign for i just signed up!!!! Pros: towel service, parking, always and i mean always cleannnnnnnnnn Cons: no steam room but it does h ave a sauna more

I tried every gym in Astoria before I joined the Matrix and this is what I have to say. Pros: Parking, Clean, affordable, great staff Cons: no rebounding classes, limited weeekend classes more

I have never done a review like this before, so please bear with me. I have been a member of this gym for about 9 months. As far as management is concerned,they do a good job keeping the place in order. Once I had a minor complaint, but the manager responded quickly and the problem was resolved. Overall, the place has a very clean appearance and lots of equipment. If you live in the area or plan to, definitely check this place out. It is not the cheapest gym in the area, but it is a BETTER gym and I feel I am getting my moneys' worth. FREE PARKING TOO! Thank You. more
