Light, weightless, and fluid. These are not the usual terms women use to describe themselves in their ninth month of pregnancy. Yet, that is exactly how I felt after my first maternal massage with Janet Markovits. Janet Markovits has been a license message therapist since 1997. She is nationally certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. She has studied numerous modalities including MotherMassage, Sports Massage and Lymphatic drainage. more

    Massage therapist Janet V. Markovits shares a small tranquil space in Soho that's a welcome setting for her practiced Swedish, deep tissue, craniosacral and lymphatic drainage massage techniques. The focus is on pregnant or postpartum women, but chronic pain patients and jealous dads also get relief. Markovits--a licensed massage therapist and certified prenatal therapist--uses the bodyCushion system, which allows pregnant women to lay comfortably face-down with room for a growing belly. Despite being off Soho's busy streets, the room barely registers the sounds of the hectic outside world.

    Hits:     If you have kinks, they will definitely get worked out, but despite the deep massage technique, the touch is still supremely soothing.

    Misses:     In the perfect world, massages would be free.
