Good Food, Modest prices 3/2/2006

I have heard a lot about this place, so I decided to check it out last weekend. One of the older Denton restaurants, but the food was just awesome. I tried many Mexican restaurants before including the Aueblos in Lewisville(far too expensive for the food they serve), but El Matador is by far, up to now the best Mexican food in DFW. Food is worth the drive. Place can get little noisy especially after 8.00PM. more

I have lived in Denton for over 16 years and this is the best Mexican food around. They have amazing homemade salsa and they add a little extra seasoning on their chips that is perfect. Their beef enchiladas are the best around and they also have many other delicious specialty dishes. They have a great casual atmosphere....perfect for after work margaritas(been there done that....a few times). I highly recommend going there! more

El Matador does real Mexican food at inexpensive prices. Their chips and salsa are good, but their entrees can leave something to be desired. They tend to be kind of heavy/greasy, although still pretty good to eat. This place is very casual with decent service. It is not as good as El Guapos (also in Denton), but it's still yummy. more
