We made the trek all the way out to El Dorado Hills (from our home in East Sac) because we had a raving recommendation for this place. We weren't disappointed by any means, but we weren't exactly blown away either. The wine list is amazing; they have everything. Also, the chef's selection prix fixe menu and wine pairing were exquisite. However, my entree was disappointing, and it shouldn't have been given the ingredients (it was lobster and mushrooms with gnocchi). Also, the prices are rather high. However, the ambiance and decor are incredible--we were seated just to the side of the huge fireplace and the light and warmth were perfect. Also, our waiter was excellent and attentive. In fact, when he noticed that my husband's third course had been served (and eaten) before he had poured the wine pairing for that course, he had the kitchen send out another entire serving of that course so that my husband could taste it with the correct wine. We probably wouldn't have even noticed the mistake otherwise. Overall, we would definitely go back, but we would probably save it for a special occasion and both order the prix fixe menu.
Pros: ambiance, service, wine list
Cons: not all the entrees are "wow" dishes
