The overall problem is that the stylists - or at least some of them - don't listen even when you give explicit instructions. It is an attitude problem: they don't take their customers seriously. Caution: some of the stylists will do everything they can to load on services (or to convince you that you need say a lip wax or a trim when you only came in for color). The stylists who have been there the longest are not necessarily the best- and they often charge excessive rates. If you do decide to go there you should ask for a bill or a breakdown of charges in advance. more

I visited Mask because I purchased a coupon for a manicure/pedicure special through Crowd Cut. After an initial mix-up (first I was kept waiting; then I was confused for another customer and ushered back to a haircutting chair), we got off to a late start on my service. I think perhaps Mask was not prepared for the amount of attention the promotion would generate -- the woman who did my manicure mentioned that she preferred cutting hair, but because they were so busy would be doing nails for the next several weeks. My manicurist was very nice, but the quality of the manicure itself was appalling. It was so poor, and so upsetting, that I left the salon before the pedicure portion of my appointment and drove right to Target for nail polish remover. The whole experience was a big disappointment; the opposite of what you'd hope for when treating yourself to a salon day. When I called the next day to complain, the manager apologized and offered an alternate service or a re-do on the manicure/pedicure (though she would not refund my money). However, I will not be returning here! more

I went there and had a large spa package, which was great because as a first-timer, it was 1/2 off with online discount when you sign up on the website with your email. However, the lady who did my mani and pedi was extremely rude and insulted my toes. Excuse me? I will never go there again. I have been going there since i was a baby i got my first hair cut there! my mom has also been going there for over 20 years. The atmosphere is amazing. If you had a bad experience don't just stop going try again! its a wonderful place and has become family almost! i have had the same stylist for almost 4 years and i have never once been disappointed with my services. Be careful about getting your hair colored from anyone who hasn't been on the floor at least 5 years. The service is very uneven. The younger stylists tend to be unattentive and preoccupied. They may a) ignore your instructions; b) leave color on too long while they go for a cigarette. After one wash you will be sorry. more

After reading the other reviews on here, I had to share my story. This however, happened a few years ago. For the first time in my life, I wanted to get my hair permed. The Mask is not too far from my home and it seemed like a decent place to get it done at. They were always busy and the parking lot always had cars in it. So, I walked into the salon and set up an appointment to get a perm. I returned a few days later for what I thought would be a great experience and it was as if I didn't have an appointment. The lady/girl up front, when she finally got there, had to go back and talk to someone else about my appointment. What was that all about? Anyways, they take me in back so I can sit there and wait for awhile while everyone continues on with their midday conversation session. So, finally some guy approaches me and I get my hair washed and trimmed. He starts to put the curlers into my hair and all the while asking another stylist about ideas on how to put them in. Hello, should he not know that already? My hair was long at the time and fyi I have that really thick asian/hawaiian hair. He's spoken to several other stylist about ideas by this point and I was beginning to think that maybe I should stop him and just leave. I didn't, however, my mistake. Hours later, he finally puts the perm solution on my hair and that in itself seemed to have taken forever. When the time comes to check the curl, he unrolls one of the curler and barely any difference. He rolls it back and leave it in a little longer. Finally, it's time to take it all out. To my amazement, there was barely a WAVE in my hair after hours of sitting there. He calls another lady over and they look at my hair as if it would curl in front of their eyes the longer they stare at it. They come to the conclusion that my hair is too long and that my hair is too thick to hold the perm. Should they not have known that when I walked in there with my hair down and dry. Or did they have to wait until I sat there for about 3+hrs and got the perm to figure this out. They have the most clueless, inept and unprofessional people working there, it's amazing. Needless to say, I've never been back there and plan never to return. It was definitely NOT worth the money or my time! What a waste it was!!! I recently went to Mask for my wedding pedi and mani, and I was put in the hands of a stylist that has been training for pedicures. Mask was well aware that I was the bride. I would've thought they would have put me with the best. My pedicure was awful! The paint job looked like a child did it. Luckily the lady that did my manicure fixed my toes up--and they looked better, but still not spectacular. The manicure was terrible, too. I got acrylics done, and I've had acrylics many, many times before so I know what they should look like and how long they should last. I got my nails done on a Tuesday and by that Saturday (my wedding) they looked terrible. I even had two fall off shortly after the wedding. My Maid-of-Honor got her nails done there, too, and she had the same issue so my experience wasn't a fluke. Mask charged me about $158 for the total service--mani and pedi, and both were terrible. I will NEVER go back. I will stick with the Asian salons that do a quality job for a reasonable price. I just wish I wouldn't have made this mistake for my wedding... First time at Mask, It was a good experience. However, I was told by my friend that a first time haircut was at a discounted rate, I wasn't offered that. My stylist was good, but was very young. It was a little awkward establishing something to talk about. But I give her credit she was trying. She never did more than offer to rebook me or offer to show me product, NO pressure selling from her. I appreciated that. Pros: alot of choices for stylists more

I recently showed up for an appointment with my stylist, and when i got there, they informed me that she was no longer there. Had i known that before i came, i wouldnt have come. SO they set me up with someone else. I Enjoyed her, and scheduled another appointment with her. Then, recieved a phone call that she had left. It seems as if there is something going on there because others i know that go there have said the same thing. They must have a large turnover rate or something must be going wrong there with the management...either way i didnt like getting thrown around. that ends my mask experiance. more

After years of coloring my own hair, and getting a haircut everywhere. I was very unhappy with the results. I asked around for someone who can take care of my hair. After asking friends and co-workers I ended up at mask. I saw Angela, Angela did such a great job on my hair, I left feeling 10 years younger. It was a great experience, I highly recommend it. After one nightmarish experience after another, I was convinced to try Mask Salon & Day Spa... I have NEVER been treated so well! They are always friendly and provide WONDERFUL service. Angela Yi is the absolute BEST stylist they have and she has yet to disappoint me. I let her do whatever she wants to my hair (cut, color, etc.). She's definitely skilled in her trade. I have referred several of my friends to her and they all say the same thing and have continued to see her on a regular basis. They also give her and the salon rave reviews. Their receptionists are courteous and very professional. I have also had massages, pedicures, manicures, and waxing done at Mask. ALL of their staff is VERY professional and skilled in their trades. I will never go to another salon as long as Mask Salon & Day Spa is open. more

I have been searching for a good place to get my hair cut, and I have found it. I started going to MASK through a co-workers recommendation and my experience has been fantastic! Angela does my hair and she is the best!!! Going there is the best pampering, after a long day at the office. I have done massage and facials as well and they were also great. Starting from the shoulder rub when I sit down for my haircut to the check out process, its always wonderful and very professional. Try MASK, you will not be disappointed! I recently went here to have a facial and have my hair done. The service was average at best, definatly not worth the money. I wasn't shown any of the products used on me during the facial or the hair service. I felt that the staff was rude, and arrogant, and when I asked a question at the front desk about a product, the receptionist was totally uncaring and not helpful. It seemed to me that they are lacking in customer service. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, unless you like being treated like you don't matter and are just another customer. I saw other people drinking wine, water, soda etc, but was never offered anything. There are certainly better places to go that are less expensive and have far better and friendlier service. I tried this salon a few times and have left dissapointed as their color line doesn't work well since they only leave it on for 15 minutes which is very unusual. Also I had a dollup of conditioner put on my hair without my permission and was charged an extra $7. Watch out for the sneaky services! They pressure you to buy products and badger you to book out several months in advance. Too bad I won't be returning as I got a great brazilian and my cut wasn't too bad but I can't take the high pressure sales pitch and the hot roots. Cons: Constant upsell more

On Saturday the 19th my husband and I both went into Mask to get facials. Vikki was recommended by a nail client of mine. However, she was not available so we had Leslie (on loan from their Plymouth salon) and Linda(who's last day it was, she's retiring). The staff was so nice and helpful. I never thought getting a hair cut mattered, but when I went to Mask that all changed. I went from being just average, to slightly above average, but my hair was great. My stylist was name Nicole and she as the funniest girl I've ever met in my life, and I don't think too many girls are funny. Easy on the eyes too. The sevice is what stood out. I love going to MASK! They are always very friendly. I've been getting by hair cut there for 2 years and just recently started getting facials. The lady that does my hair is always up on the latest trends and their esthetician is very knowledgeable. Their day spa is a relaxed atmosphere and they offer everything from brazillian waxing to chemical peels. You get more then your moneys worth when you to there!
