The poor reviews about this school are absolutely correct! I can vouch from experience and regret ever using this “school”. Do NOT send your children here! None of the “teachers”...

I am writing this letter to express my complete happiness in the Mary Sears Children’s Academy. My daughter, Megan, has been enrolled there since the age of 3 (she is now 5) and really enjoys attending. She started on the 2-day program, went to the 3-day program after a few months and now is in the 5-day program because she enjoys it so much. The dedication that the staff at Mary Sears has for the children that attend is absolutely wonderful. Megan has truly excelled in her penmanship, math and social skills being a part of the Mary Sears ‘family’ and that is how I see it…’family’. I would, and have, recommend Mary Sears to anyone that asks about a pre-school or day care facility. Megan will be attending kindergarten in the fall at Mary Sears and I know (as I can see it already) she will be more than ready for first grade when she turns six. Thank you so much for your dedication and commitment to making mine and everyone else’s child excel and happy. more

I am extremely pleased with Mary Sears Children’s Academy. My four year old son has been attending the Mary Sears in Joliet/Manhattan for a little over three years now. I can honestly say that I do not have any complaints. The facility is extremely clean and well organized. Before, I decided on enrolling my son at Mary Sears, he was attending a different daycare where he was sick constantly. Once we switched to Mary Sears, his health improved so much! He is rarely sick now. The staff keeps everything very clean and the children wash their hands often. Mary Sears provides children with a fun, exciting, and well-structured learning environment. I am very impressed with how much my son has learned the past few years. My son loves going to school; especially the summer camp! The children do so many fun activities. The staff has always been very nice and considerate to the students and parents. I feel confident that my son is in good hands. The children are provided with a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and supper as well as morning and afternoon snacks. Mary Sears is very affordable and well worth every penny!! I have recommended Mary Sears to many of my friends with children and they have been very satisfied as well. more

My son has been going to Mary Sears for over two years, starting when he was three months old. Attending Mary Sears has helped him to be advanced for his age. The teachers and staff are great and I have peace of mind sending him there while I’m at work. more

Don't even think of going here! 5/19/2011

The poor reviews about this school are absolutely correct! I can vouch from experience and regret ever using this “school”. Do NOT send your children here! None of the “teachers” are certified and anyone in a position of power is related to the director. They are given carte blanche to do or say whatever they want. They put on a lovely dog and pony show for parents about how the “children come first”. However, after the parents leave they just let children sit and cry, and actually yell at staffers who try to comfort the children! Mary Sears talks about a lot about R-E-S-P-E-C-T but they don’t show any respect to the children OR to the staff! The school “rules” state that children should “never be talked down to”, but this is routinely ignored by bitter and mean sarcastic “teachers” who demean the children and mock them. Screaming at a three year old to “RESPECT!” means nothing if you don’t set the example for them. I recently took a course in classroom management and everything the instructor discussed about having consistent rules and a calm and caring atmosphere was never followed at Mary Sears. They would routinely make up new “rules” on the spot that didn’t exist before, and spend more time spying on each other and engaging in gossip than watching their own classrooms. They break their own “rules” about how males are not to be with the children when they go to the bathroom. What they claim goes on and what actually occurs are completely different things. I know what my children experienced and they are NOT liars. Mary Sears is a terrible institution and more like a boot camp that any kind of loving nurturing environment. I hope this place gets shut down. more
