I understand a restaurant wanting to have their guests feel like they aren't rushed and can make an evening out of the experience, but there is no excuse for slow service. Our se...

Brilliant!! 5/17/2004

You cannot go wrong with anything you order here! The combination of flavors and textures is remarkable. I come here any time I'm looking for a terrific meal. You will not be sorry!! Yes, it is worth the wait, however if you go earlier in the evening or the week day the wait isn't long. ENJOY!!!! Pros: Food, Food, Wine Cons: No reservations, Small-but trendy more

I love this place! 2/13/2004

Excellent, creative entrees matched with an excellent wine list - can I move in? Well worth the trip to Stillwater! Pros: Great food, Extensive wine list more

Loved It ! 5/1/2003

We loved Marx ! I almost didn't want to write a review, because I want this place all to myself. But now that the word's out (Mpls/St.Paul Mag in May) I might as well. Downtown Stillwater: cute. Call ahead, go cocktail and they call you on your cell when your table's ready: awesome. Ambiance: swank and cool. Food: Amazing (yet not snobby.) Service: Left us alone unless we asked for something -wonderful job ""reading"" your guests. Wine List: Probably one of the best parts (affordable with unusual wines, nice descriptives) Price: You think the dinner is going to cost you much more, but NO! WE LOVED MARX ! (my ONLY gripe would be to the rather great server we had - keep up the service AFTER the tab is paid, we wanted to stay a while longer, but our coffee and water were empty.) Pros: fun, great food, very afforable Cons: none!, none!, (everyone knows now!) more

Meraviglioso! (Wonderful) 1/27/2003

Marx is a great and comfortable spot with really inventive food. Start with the delicious fresh baked bread with the infused Garlic & Rosemary Oil. Wonderful. The Duck Confeit appetizer is excellent and once you've ordered the Spagetti Lydia, you'll have a hard time ordering anything else. It's accented with pulled Chicken in a spicy aromatic broth with a hint of herbs, butter and a blast of garlic... Wow!!! The salads are also fresh - and very flavorful. (Go with the ceasar... it's the bomb!) The staff's great with the menu and the knowledge of the wine list as well. It's inventive and well suited to the foods being served. Try the suggested Roberto Mondavi La Famiglia Colmera meritage blend. It was an awesome recommendation and a compliment to the great experience we had. Keep it up Marx... we'll be back again soon! Pros: Great Bold Flavors, Excellent Staff, Friendly Proprietor Cons: Bathroom's far away more

fantabulous 1/8/2003

I have been to Marx on three occasions. Each time I have had some of the best food in the Twin Cities area. Marx is a breath of fresh air compared to the other (horrible) resturants in that area. The atmosphere is a bit noisy but all in all the service, food and prices are awesome. more
