for a very ethnic day trip, i'd recommend shopping here! i really enjoy walking around and shopping here. whenever convenient, i come here or even not convenient! i love looking at the japenese products. everything from beauty good, to market foods, to nick nacks upstairs! they have a great variety of items, not just hapanese, but chinese and hawaiian too! in addition, i buy stuff from the little restaurants in the food area just outside the market. they were featured in huel howser before. fun! more

Great Japanese Market!! 10/8/2005

Marukai Market is a unique Japanese market. Aside from your standard supermarket, they have a food court and small boutiques. I personally like to go to the boutiques, because they sell household items and beauty items for a reasonable price. The market offers a wide variety of Japanese food. On the weekends, this store can be very crowded. more

Japanese maket place 9/2/2005

The place for Japanese food and products in Los Angeles. Mass market grocery store which carries almost every Japanese food imaginable, from dry goods and supplies to fresh sashimi. Great place to pick up extremely high quality, fresh sashimi without paying sushi bar prices. Requires a yearly membership, but well worth it if you use lots of Japanese ingredients or food. They also carry appliances like rice cookers, ceramics, and traditional japanese clothing. more

Marukai Market 8/19/2005

My sister took me with her to shop at the Maruka Market once because she has membership and you can’t shop here apparently without it. Their yearly membership fee is $10. The store has a fairly large selection of Japanese food products and they also even sell Japanese furniture, kitchen appliances and gift items. more
