We Love Pet's 2/3/2010

In response to 123d, I am very disappointed that anyone would say that veterinarians don’t care about pet’s well being. All of us who work at a veterinary office have to have a special kind of love for animals. Out of 19 employees we have 72 pets at our homes. That is averaging over three pets per staff member. We not only love animals but we love on them regardless of there condition. It is our policy that we do not write prescriptions. This is because there are a lot of internet pharmacies out there that sell counterfeit medications that will not help and sometimes hurt animals needing medication. So if we write scripts then we have no control where that medication is being acquired – a lot of medications that we sell are not available at local pharmacies. We do make money on our prescriptions but we have to make a profit unlike Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is able to sell some medications to you at $4.00 a prescription. If all they sold was $4 medications then they would not be able to keep there doors open. They bank on you spending money while you have to wait to have that prescription filled. Do you think any pharmacy will be there for you if something happens to your pet? In order for us to pay our expenses to keep our doors open we have to make a profit. By the way our veterinarians drive modest vehicles and live in modest homes. Know any human doctors and what they live like? If we can’t make some income on medications then our office visit goes from $37 to $137 like human doctors charge. Also most people don’t have insurance for their pet which is available for about $28 a month. Health insurance cost around $500 per person per month whether you pay it or your employer pays it. Most people understand that they would not be able to afford to go the doctor if they didn’t have insurance. A couple of years ago I had surgery at a local hospital and just the hospital charges were over $15,000 dollars and that does not count what the surgeon charged. What is the most you have paid at a veterinary hospital? And what do some people say “it’s just a dog it should be cheaper”. Then do you care about the well being of your animal or do you care more about your money. All we want to do is to make a modest living, have the very best veterinary equipment and pay our expenses. By the way our heart medications range from $10 - $35 hardly a “crazy price”. Pros: 4 Doctors, Latest Veterinary Equipment, Great Staff! more

Great vets but not interested in pet's wellbeing 8/27/2009

I have been taking my dog to this clinic off and on for about 8 years. For major surgeries, I chose them for their up to date equipment. But I have to say, I don't and have never felt my dog's well being was foremost with this group of vets. As an example, my dog is on heart meds she has to take for the rest of her life. They were charging me a crazy price for these pills, but I could get them at my local pharmacy for 1/4 of what they were charging me. They refused to write a script for call it in because "we need to make money too to keep other costs for you down". I understand but this is my dog's heart. I can't afford what they were charging so I told them that I would just stop giving her the heart medication. Their response: "OK. Let us know if you need anything else." This response to a medication for my dog's heart is not right. I got the medication online anyway because I couldn't not give my dog her meds. Other situations have come up over the years just like that one. But because my dog has had very serious problems involving many surgeries, I will go there for those problems. These people are good, but for routine things, they are way over priced. I like a vet who will put my pet's health over cost and work with me for simple things like writing a script. Pros: clean, friendly, docs are current Cons: care more about money than your pets more
