Marshalls

Marshall's a fairly large store located off of 39th St in Independence. They have everything from furnishings for the home to clothes and shoes. If you are willing to go through all of the racks and rows then you are likely to find some bargains. There are times that everything is fairly neat, but mostly the store is very disorganized. They do have great prices on things if you are willing to look. I got a great sheet set for about 1/2 of what I would've paid in the regular store. They often have pants and shirts at very discounted rates. They have a good selection of picture frames and vases too. You might have to look for ones that don't have any marks on them, but they are there and they are cheap! The staff at this store is not very helpful and often the lines can get long on the weekends. Marshall's is somewhere to go when you are just looking for deals and in the mood to browse. more

I like this store, though it's a bit messy and the sales staff are not exactly top of the line. I've gotten some really good deals here. I bought several sweaters here to Christmas present and was impressed with the quality and the discounts. They do not have a very large shoe department but do seem to carry some really cute women's shoes. I've found really good deals on housewares here too and recommend checking prices on things like dishes, towels, picture frames. This is a pretty good place to shop if you're looking for a gift and have nothing particular in mind. I am let down by their children's clothing department. The selection seems to be getting smaller and smaller. more

I like the moderately priced merchandise. However, I definitely have to have patience to go in this store because it tends to be on the cluttered side. They have a good selection of women's tops and blouses, I typically can walk out with a couple. Not a great big fan of their children's department. I generally never really find anything that I like in that department, not to mention it is very disorganised. The checkout can also be on the slow side. more
