I needed auto repair work done on my Mercedes Benz C280, \r
I looked around for an Independent mechanic shop, (not a dealership) \r
The car ran great at high speeds, but had a rough idle at stops and \r
low speed driving...I saw Marshall Motors every day on my drive \r
to work off of I35E & Royal....\r
So I bring the car to them and I ask for a diagnostic check be done \r
on the car to determine the cause of the rough idle...I was quoted \r
$110.00, and that there was no discount, (despite their website stating \r
$45.00 off first time customers) and that none of the $110.00 would be applied towards the repair, I m also told it would be several hours to get \r
this done....so I m given a ride home and I waited....several hours \r
later I was called and told that they were not sure what was wrong \r
with the car and that I needed to have a compression test performed \r
on all 6 cylinders (at a cost of $186.00), and that there was a \r
knocking/rattling sound coming from the timing chain area, to fix this \r
noise it would be approximately another $400.00-$600.00 dollars more .....and that this would not guaranty that the bad idle would be fixed.....I got very upset and told them to button up the car and not perform the work...that I would be there in a few minutes to get my car....It took me 30-45 minutes to get there and the car was still in the shop service bay area with the hood still up and not out and ready when I got there. So I had to wait another 30 minutes I spoke to the manager/owner? about the repairs and he told me they could not ever give a guaranty on auto repairs....I paid them their $110.00 and left.....two days latter I took the car to Auto Hans Inc., and had them do the auto diagnostic test, and Alex tells me that he is not sure what is causing the bad idle, but said he performed a temporary fix to get the idle smoother and that I could continue to drive the car as it is or leave it with him to give a better \r
evaluation and possibly repair it. I decided to drive it home and it was 80% \r
better but not 100% fixed (oh by the way Auto Hans Inc. did not charge a dime for the temp. fix) The next day I took it back and left it with Alex to repair. I was called 2 days latter and Alex said it was the ECU that needed to be replaced and quoted me $761.00 out the door tax/labor 100% fixed...with a guaranty!!! \r
\r
So far the car is running great and there is nothing ever wrong with the timing chain or with the engine compression of any of the cylinders....As far as I m concerned MARSHALL MOTORS did not properly diagnose the \r
problem and were just guessing at what was wrong with my car.....\r
\r
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MARSHALL MOTORS TO ANYONE!!!!!
