Unique space, excellent food 2/18/2006

Once a church, this restaurant offers a fine dining experience in a one of a kind space. They offer a large wine selection, clearly visible towards the back end of the restaurant. The area is open and tables are somewhat close together, but it only adds to the energy of the restaurant. It is definitely pricey, but the food is amazing and the service is excellent, making it worth every penny. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Houston. Don't forget...dress to impress. more

The title says it all 8/20/2005

As the title says...this is one of Houston's best restaurants! Hands down. This restaurant is set in an old church in the Montrose part of town. The service is wonderful, the food is to die for, and the setting is lovely. I have been two times and enjoyed every minute there. Save room for desserts, I recommend ordering two at least - the more the merrier! They also have a great wine selection. Do not bring the kids this location is not for them. Be prepared for your car to be vallet. more

Mark's Restaurant is a bit Much 8/17/2005

I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, but it was way over priced, and the food was nothing spectacular to warrant the inflated prices. It was a bit stuffy, and overcrowded(and by that I mean....the seating was just too close to together. I would not go there again. more

    Voted Houston's Most Romantic Restaurant, Mark's American Cuisine is located in a 1920s renovated church. The golden ceilings, hand painted deco walls, and the candlelit tables provide guests with an intimate escape from the outside world. Mark's boasts three meeting rooms: two private - The Cloisters, which seats 32 to 40 people and The Alcove, a tasting room for 5 to 8 people, and a semi-private room, The Loft, which seats 18 to 24 people.

    Dining at Mark's American Cuisine is a true epicurean adventure. Chef Mark Cox prepares not just one, but four unique menus for his patrons. Houstonians and visitors will find food unlike that in any other restaurant.
