Market Street Sweets

My daughter moved to Seattle about 5 years ago and every Christmas she beggs her mommy for Benne Wafers and Market Street Sweets is the only place she will accept them from. I don't blame her. THey make the best benne wafers in Charleston and they're not terribly expensive. They're located downtown in The Market so parking during the tourist season (read: year round) can be a little sketchy, but trust me--it's worth the circling around. They dont' just have benne wafers, but candied pecans and walnuts and all other kinds of wonderful sweets! more

If you don't know what Benne Wafers are, or if you do and have a hankering for them, I kindly suggest that you get off your hiney and march yourself right downtown to Market Street Sweets. Not ONLY will you find THE most heavenly benne wafers on the planet, but you'll get some candied pecans (Pronounced PEE-CANS, thank you) and fudge and taffy and just so many sweets your teeth will rot just by stepping FOOT in the store. Since moving from Charleston, I've been going through Benne Wafer withdrawl, and Market Street Sweets is the first place I headed once I got downtown to get my fix. Oh they're so good. Send some to your friends. They have pre-made baskets for those super-sweet people in your life. Heck, just buy a pound of everything they have in the store and call it good. Your teeth may hate you later, but at least your dentist will love you for being such a loyal customer of Market Street Sweets. more
