BEST MOVIES PLAY HERE 8/9/2005

If you are looking for the best movies in town, look no further. If you are looking for the best theater in town, look elsewhere. Market Street Cinema plays the movies you won't see at the multiplex. There are 6 small screens that generally run the latest documentaries, art films, and foreign films. This was the only place in town to see Bowling for Columbine. Recent shows have included Supersize Me, March of the Penguins. Location is convenient, decor has been updated, but this is an older theater. The sound system is pitiful, and the edges of movies can look a little fuzzy. more

Indies and Oldies 8/9/2005

Market Street Cinema was once owned by United Artist, but after a failing campaign as a bargain theather it was reopened by local owners. The owners saw the need Little Rock had for art films. They now offer a good variety of independent and art films that they show and rotate weekly. Market street has always been clean and the new ownerships has seemed to double the effort for cleanliness. It is located near the Market Street shopping center off of Merrill Drive. You may have to look for it but once you've found it you have found a jewel. Market Street has also been showing older movies as of late. The last in this line has been a release of Casa Blanca on their big screen. I hope you enjoy more
