I walked in during a hair crisis- i had washed my hair six times in three days to get the ugly lowlights out. Brown, drab hair on a blonde who is normally bright and sassy. Mark the owner listened attentively and consulted with me for ten minutes and referred me to who he thought would best work with me. Heather was lovely. SHe offered me every option to "" fix"" the problem- we went through my hair and she carefully strategized the best approach-- taking baby steps rather than chemically processing my hair again as a quick fix. we ended up using a special shampoo and masque treatment from brazilian blowout, which made my hair heathy and manageable and brighter and less dull. She stayed late to accomadate me and was completely compassionate and thorough and professional. My experience in this salon was a ten, and i left feeling happier about the plan of action. My hair is now prepped for highlights should i need to get some to cancel out the lows. Heather is wonderful. Thanks!!! ~Leigh his is a followup review to my previous comment. I booked with Heather for highlights to brighten and tone. She calmed my nerves and took each step to make me feel completely comfortable with the color correction. THree hours later- taking her time with me--, highlights ( low volume and slow lift to be gentle to tramatized hair) base bump, gloss to protect, and a baby snip to clean the ends, and the bombshell marilyn perfect blonde was back. brassiness eliminated. brown lowlights yesterday's news. Heather knows color. Blonde knows blonde. I recommend her highly. As we finished, her next client came in Loving my color and cut. Had a WONDERFUL experience at this salon. It was very inviting, the owner Mark was easy going, and my stylist, Tara, knew exactly what I wanted... which for me, can be very hard to find as I am very picky about foiling and hate brassiness in highlights. She was awesome. They use top of the line products which are also better for your hair, and the colors are beautiful. For the directionally challenged, go by the address, park your car, and stroll a beat. You'll see the place. WELL worth it. everything is great about this shop... but the best thing is the people... they are so down to earth i fell like i knew them my whole life...lol.... and my stylist samantha is the greatest ever she knows how to make me look great and feel beautiful... being a mother i dont have time for my hair she gave me a style that is easy to manage and still look like a superstar!!!! so if ur lookin for something different or even the same ol look this is the place and she is the one!! more

The two things every woman needs: a mechanic she can trust and the best hairdresser ever. Thankfully, I've found both! I've been a customer of Mark's of Mark of Excellence for a decade or more. He knows my hair, knows what I like and nails it every time. I always receive complements on the 'do. And I'll happily drive from L.A. every time. Thoroughly professional and friendly, I cannot say enough. If you're looking for a shop that can be your new home, this is it! Oh, and the recent addition of Tara has just taken it over the top. more

So im a mother and to me my hair is the last thing on my mind right.... well not so i spend so much time trying to find the right style.... i get so frustrated that i wanna chop it all off... so i went to this salon in hermosa beach and wow.... excellent is an understatment.... the people there are so down to earth and easy to talk to its like ive known them my whole life..lol... well anyways my stylist SAMANTHA is so amazing... i told her about my hair problems and she knew exactly wat i was goin through... and the style she gave me was amazing!!!! the look she gave me was easy to style but i still looked like a superstar no matter how i styled it!!! its so great so if ur looking for a great new look or just wanna keep the same ol style MARK OF EXCELLENCE is the salon for u!!! I really enjoyed my hair cut at Mark of Excellence. The staff was very nice and my hair stylist really cared about how my hair looked. When she was done she wanted to make sure that it was to my liking. I encourage everyone to try Mark of Excellence Salon! Pros: Atmosphere more
