Best food in the region! 10/14/2011

By far the best peruvian dishes out there. The taste is very authentic. I wish they would expand, it can get crowded. more

I'm Stuffed 2/27/2006

I became acquainted with Mario's through take-out menus and group lunch orders in my office. The unbelievably good and ENORMOUS portions were more than enough for two meals, and at bargain prices. The meals are hearty, succulent, traditional Peruvian dishes that are sure to satisfy, and six bucks can get you lunch AND dinner, if you grab a doggy bag! more

woot! 8/13/2005

Great seafood! Not inexpensive, but fresh and wonderful choices. Authenic, succulent Chinese dishes including house special lobster, crab, fried whole fish, French beef, etc. Daily (7 days a week) lunch specials are very inexpensive ($4-6 per and fast! On holidays, there are no lunch specials, except for take-out. Hot & Sour Soup included for dine-in only. Located in BUSY plaza, so good luck parking. more

Outside of Lima, There's Only One Place for Peruvian 8/13/2005

Don't get fooled by those other "Peruvian" joints -- they all pale in comparison to Mario's. Mario's is the absolute, hands down best Peruvian food in Los Angeles. If you disagree, I challenge you to eat at Mario's (and no, yo no soy Mario). Mario's Peruvian is run by a Japanese fella (yes, Japanese) who's family roots run several generations deep in Peru. A few years ago, when you would walk into the place, you'd see only Latin Americans -- now, the rest of the Angelenos are wisening up and based on its word of mouth popularity, Mario's is fielding a diverse field of hungry customers. The absolute BOMB dish is the Pescado de Mariscos -- a savory, tantalizing stir-fry of various seafood including shrimp and squid mixed with french fries (yes, you ignorant non-Peruvian food eater, french fries! -- that diatribe was directed specifically to all my white readers from orange county). This is served alongside a scoop of rice and is prepared for you by Mario's capable crew of cooks and served by their rather slow waitresses. One can't forget their savory "guacamole" that is spicy hot and is absolute heaven on the tastebuds when dripping off a hot bread roll. more
