I had a Catalina 27 in the harbor for over 20 years between my father and me. Eventually my used was limited so I sold the boat. It was in the same marina as the boats that were in the Marina Sailing Fleet. I had figured it was cheaper then owning my own sail boat and they acutely told me it would be so. They lied. Boy did they lie. I wish I had kept my Catalina 27. It was much older then the boats they had in the fleet but after Chartering a few of their sailboats, the boat I sold, 30 years old, and their much newer boats were in poor condition. They also charged much more then their advertised rate. What ever they tell you don’t believe them. They have a way to tell you the grass is green when there is not grass at all. We would use a boat once or twice a month. I was told that overall their program would be less then what I used to pay for slip fees and a bottom cleaning. NOT THE CASE. THEY LIE TO YOU. The rates they show is not what they charge. The $200 half day rate turned out to be $1,000 per month. That was only using their smaller boat ( a Catalina 28) boat 2 afternoons or what they called ½ day rate. My boat was paid for and the montly slip fee was less then $300 per month. Part of the time on the Chartered Marina Sailing boat was spent cleaning it up so I could use it with my wife. They do not take care of the boats that are in their fleet. They are always filthy and several time out I had to do emergency repairs to the boat to get back into the harbor. When I got my credit card bill it was hit for 2 to 3 times more then what they told my the charge was going to be. When I asked about it they always had some excuse but never made sense. I know this one guy that rented one of the boats for a 3 day mid week deal that was supposed to be $1035 for the three days including the tax. He did not realize they hit his card for $1,450. Whey he inquired about it they said it was for insurance. I had to pay insurance on the boat when I used it but it was only $10 per day. These guys are a RIP OFF. Don’t believe then. They are only interested in sucking the cash out of your pocket. They are dishonest. When I told them I did not want to continue they kept charging my credit card. This place is bad news. Stay away from Marina Sailing.
