DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT! Its proprietor does not deserve your business; there are other good folks who could do with it.
Last year I purchased a pair of slacks, which I took to “Margarita” for alteration. I had not had the occasion to wear them until the other day, when I noticed that the one side dragged on the pavement. “Margarita,” my tailor, had 1) either forgotten to sew up the one side, or 2) done so asymmetrically. When I walked into the store, she was in the process of pinning up a customer who had the same problem. A pattern! However, as soon as she heard that I had had the slacks altered last year, “Margarita” and sullen daughter brazenly pronounced--in front of the other shocked customer--that this was not their work. The interaction was most unpleasant, with the implication being that I was lying.
I informed her that one had to be stupid to 1) accuse a regular customer of lying, especially in these tough economic times. 2) Doubly stupid when caught in the act of pinning up another client whose alternation was also half done. 3) I would take my business elsewhere and spread the word. No apology was forthcoming. Again: there are other good folks who could do with your business!
