Margaret's Cantina

I have to say that this is not my favorite mexican restaurant, but I do feel that it is one of the better ones in the Chapel Hill area. The menu is creative and there is a twist on choices. The atmosphere is fun! This place is close to my office so it is a great spot to grab a drink with some friends from work. Also, close to the movie theater and Hwy 40. Overall- this will fix any Mexican craving! more

Big portions are about the only thing that Margaret's has going for it. Their fillings are bland and tasteless and entrées are ridiculously expensive. You have to pay extra for "enchilada style" burritos which entails putting extra sauce and cheese on top--which even then barely makes the burritos palatable. There are other non-Tex-Mex items on the menu as well. Squirrelly, seemingly random hours--often shut for holidays, so call before you go. Or, just go to Carrburritos instead. more

Great restaraunt w/ Mexican flair! The grilled chicken strips with garlic sauce or teryaki sauce is my most favorite! My other favorites are the salads in taco shells! They are sooo good. This is the ONLY place I ever want to eat at when I am in Chapel Hill! I recommend that everyone try this place. It is less crowded on weekdays (Mondays through Thursdays), more crowded on Fridays through Sundays. The setting is a cozy-drugstore-sized-building and the seating varies from 2 table settings to 4 to any number up to 10 (I'm pretty sure 10 people could sit comfortably at one to two tables). The decor is attractive, christmas lights shaped into cactus, desert sand yellow and orange red walls. Medium sized bar in center. Great place for dates, family outings (kid meals on menu), small after-graduation lunch/dinner, or a single dinner. Have a good time! more

Margaret's Cantina is a great Mexican restaurant off of Airport Road. It's right by the movie theater in Timberline, so it tends to get very crowded when the movies let out. The margaritas are great, as is the food. The atmosphere is kind of crowded and loud, but a good find for pre- or post- movie. more
