Maple View Farms sells super tasty ice cream and milk (and meat). They sell the milk at Whole Foods, Earth Fare, and Harris Teeter (and maybe other places I don't know about). It comes in glass bottles - you pay a deposit and when you return the bottle to the grocery store, you get your deposit back. They sell ice cream at their farmhouse location in Chapel Hill, as well as their Carrboro location (open seasonally). The ice cream is always good, and they make some unique flavors. The farm in Chapel Hill is protected via a conservation easement with the Triangle Land Conservancy, and it is really neat to drive out there, sit in a rocking chair on the front porch, relax and watch the cows. more

Where to cool off #2 4/10/2006

Another classic ice cream store is Maple Grove Farms, located just outside Chapel Hill. Start as an outlet for the milk fat they were producing from the increase demand of skim milk. Maple Grove Farms has become a favorite in the Triangle. This locally owned dairy not only produces some of the best ice cream in the area, but produces some of the best milk. The milk is still sold in glass bottles. more

Maple View Farm is AWESOME! 4/4/2006

Ben & Jerry's on Franklin Street is great and all, but if you want an ice cream EXPERIENCE, take a drive down to Maple View Farm for some real homemade country ice cream. It is in the middle of nowhere, but it's great because you can sit in rocking chairs in the front and listen to a banjo player or go run around in the field or roll in the hay. If you don't have time to drive to the country, stop by their Maple View Store across the street from Whole Foods in Carrboro. more

Best Ice Cream in the Area! 9/2/2005

This dairy is what I expected to find in North Carolina. Located in Hillsborough, their milk products are very fresh and in my opinion the best! My favorite product of theirs is the ice cream. It is hands down number one! The setting is just so peaceful with a rocker-lined front porch overlooking the farmland. more

The perfect end of summer treat 8/26/2005

Maple View Dairy is phenomenal on multiple levels. Their milk products sold throughout the triangle are the best out there. Their newly opened store in Carrboro is a wonderful addition. But their crowning achievement is the original ice cream store. The ice cream is delectable, and is only enhanced by the front porch lined with rocking chairs that look out over the farmland. So come out and enjoy a beautiful sunset with wonderful ice cream. more
