The food has gone down hill. My husband and I like to eat there on special occasions and last Saturday was our last time. They changed all of the side vegetables and added weird t...

Awful Service 7/27/2005

I went to the bar for happy hour on a Thursday night and hardly anyone was in the bar. You would think the service would be slightly better with hardly anyone in the bar, but the waitress barely gave us the time of day. Plus by the end, one person at our table asked for a to-go box and was refused because she ordered an appetizer. They paid for it, why can't they take it home?? Once we were ready to pay, the waitress handed us our bills and walked away (some of us were ready to pay). We had to wait probably an extra 10 minutes before she came back for our cash and cards. She eventually brought the credit card receipts and walked off without saying anything. It wasn't like she was busy and had to run off. I guess avoid the bar! Cons: Rude Service more

Stay away from the ribs! 7/7/2005

I took a group of folks from work here for dinner and it was terrible. Most of us ordered their ""famous"" ribs, but they were overcooked, chewy, and dry. I was told the halibut was also overcooked and nothing to write home about. At $25 bucks per dinner, not including a salad or anything - way overpriced for food that wasn't even as good as Safeway takeout. Long wait too - don't bother! Pros: Family Atmosphere Cons: Expensive, Terrible Food, Crowded more

Doing a Good Job 9/26/2004

OK, it's not fine dining, but the team here does a great job and the food is pretty good too. Service is impeccable (usually, except for some regular seating snafus at the front door). Food quality is good. We're not quite sure about the Southwestern flair in some dishes (this is Portland and the restaurant doesn't bill itself as having Southwest cuisine). Good value wines by the glass and happy hour. Awesome green beans and swordfish. Try the pork sandwich, ahi salad, and chocolate peanut butter ganache desert indulgence! Oh, and the tortilla soup too. Pros: food quality, service, decor Cons: , ditzy hostesses, lots of SW choices more

Service is poor 8/2/2004

My boyfriend and I visisted Manzana on Saturday night at around 9:30. After being seated promptly in the bar, we waited what seemed like forever, before a server brought us dinner menus. We were starving. I'm not sure if she was just having a bad day, but her attitude was less than friendly. We gave her our drink orders and then waited...waited...waited....for someone to come by to take our dinner orders. Overall, this is what I have to say - Manzana has EXCELLENT drinks, VERY GOOD food, but VERY POOR service. If you don't mind being treated like dirt, visit Manzana. more
