I can only speak re: one particular broker with Manhattan Connection and, as my rating indicates, it was not a positive experience. Let me recap:
My two roommates and I were looking for a three-bedroom apartment in Murray Hill for the entry-level price of $4000 - $4500 (we are fresh out of college). We did a few showings with the Manhattan Connection broker, and it became over time that she was clearly trying to hustle us into something we could not afford.
Not only did she ignore the parameters of our budget, she also lied to us and constantly harassed us over the telephone.
Is ""lie"" a strong, black-and-white type of word? You tell me. When we pushed back against her outrageous advice, in early June, she told us that pretty soon we would not be able to find an apartment for August (""We're getting into September lease dates!""). Later, we learned that most apartments turn over 3-4 weeks before the appropriate move-in date.
Not only did these aggressive up-selling tactics continue for some time, but the MC broker once called my cell phone 10 consecutive times in one three-hour period to try and push for our business, disregarding that I had told her I could not take calls that week because I was out of town. Ten missed calls! Unbelievable!
Maybe Manhattan Connection has other reputable brokers but if you are thinking of using this firm, be diligent about looking into the advice you get! (Or private message me and I'll tell you who to stay away from)
