The Manhattan is smoky and dark, but I love it anyway. The drinks are cheap and well made, the bartenders are clever and wonderful. Sometimes you will hear some assfaced film student blathering on about how great Igmar Bergman is to some drunk girl who wants to talk about how she made out with the bassist from The Max Weinberg 7 at am after party when she was in New York last week. You also risk getting yelled at by a 4:00 drunk who has 4 masters degrees, but mostly there are a lot of cute bearded fellows and girls who dress like they're from the 50s. They also have belly dancing and a lot of Elvis / Johnny Cash tributes and such. If you don't want want to get leered at by loud drunk college boys because you'd rather get leered at by jaded 30 something art school drop outs with emotional problems, the Manhattan is the bar for you.
Pros: cute wall paper
Cons: not enough people wash their hair; the sad kind of alcoholism
