Best

I recently went to this restaurant with my boyfriend and his family and I immediately fell in love. Not only is the restaurant's decor and setting beautiful but the food is incred...

Worst

My wife and I moved to Bountiful about 4 years ago and have heard non-stop about how we ""have to eat at the Mandarin."" We finally tried it and have confirmed what we have though...

Best Chinese in SLC 1/4/2003

I don't know who posted the most recent reviews, and I wouldn't put much stock in the pizza delivery guy's angry vent against the Mandarin owners. Whatever the case, try your luck searching for better Chinese in Salt Lake City, and you won't find it. The menu offers more than your chain-style restaurants, the ambience is nice, and the food is fabulous. More authentic than most, and I eat Chinese in Pittsburgh, Houston, and Southern California regularly. more

SoSO 11/9/2002

Too greasy and Americanized--PF Chang's is a million times superior! The Mandarin is not by any means in the top ""10"". Pros: Nice Decor Cons: Poor food, Not the cleanest more

out of 10 I give it a 50 11/9/2002

This is by far the best restaurant to eat at. I have waited as long as 2 1/2 hours, and always feel that it is well worth the wait! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, anywhere, anytime! Pros: Everything Cons: There aren't any more

One of the BEST! 11/9/2002

You do have to stand in line if you don't arrive early, but it is well worth the wait. They are great at getting you seated asap even with the crowds they get. The food is wonderful, the service is great. I recommend to all my friends and take my guests there all the time. Pros: Good Food, Great Service, Worth the Wait Cons: Crowded more

My All Time Favorite! 11/9/2002

This is my family's all time favorite restaraunt in Utah. Go early and order your dessert at the beggining of the meal before they are out of your favorites. The creme brulee is excellent! more

Great American Chinease 11/8/2002

Always fresh and always good. American definately, but what do you expect. Pros: very clean, good service Cons: you have to wait, and wait some more more

My husband and I love the food 11/1/2002

We love the food, it's our favorite place to go. Pros: great food Cons: , long wait more

Selfish 10/27/2002

I love Mandarin's food. Apparently, so does everyone else, which has created an interesting problem. I won't stand in line to eat there anymore. Instead, I have taken my business to Joy Luck down the street. Is it as good? That's a debate. It is more convenient, with very little wait time, and fresh food. Pros: food, food, food Cons: wait time, wait time, wait time more

Great Chinese Food 10/2/2002

I love going to the Mandarin Restraunt. I always know that I will get excellent service and excellent food. more

Italian Family Loves Greek Owned Chinese 9/23/2002

My family has been eating at the Mandarin for many years and we still think it is absolutely the BEST Chinese around. If you don't want to wait, try take-out> Pros: Delicious food, Homemade Ice Cream, Fair Price for Qualit Cons: Busy more

The best Chinese 9/19/2002

I have tried many chinese restaurants around the city. The mandarin has proved to always be great food, and friendly service. My water glass is constantly full, even on busy nights. My favorite dish is Mushu Chicken! Pros: Great food, Great evironment, Good service Cons: Bad Parking, Busy, Small more

Like Vinegar? 9/17/2002

If you like VINEGAR, then you'll love this place. All the sauces are vinegar based and you can smell them before they get to your table. Be sure you don't snack on Salt-N-Vinegar chips before your arrival, or you'll be disappointed. Drink your drink REEEEALLY slow...your waiter/waitress will take FOREVER in bringing you a fresh one when you run out. Think about bringing along your Camel-Pack. Oh yeah--don't forget that cross-stich project you've been working on! You'll have PLENTY of time to work on it before anyone gets to your table! Bon Appetite! Enjoy this OVER-RATED restaurant located in the middle of a neighborhood! more

yes, but it's in Bountiful 9/11/2002

Fairly good for Chinese food, but not worth the wait, the drive to Bountiful, nor the limited parking. Pros: food Cons: location, wait, parking more

Not Authentic, but good 9/3/2002

Mandarin is not where you would go to find authentic Chinese food, but authentic Chinese food is very different than what most Americans think it is. For example, broccoli as we know it does not exist in Chinese cuisine and fortune cookies are American made. However, Mandarin food is quite tasty, so if you are in the mood for good food, it's a good place to go. But if you're in the mood for something more authentic, you're better off going to your Chinese friend's house for dinner. more

love the aroma 8/22/2002

Had to move because living close to the restaurant caused me to spend far too much money. Whenever I try to recommend The Mandarin to people from out of town they are already familiar with its great food and service. The owner genuinely cares about his patrons. I think I'll eat there tonight. Pros: great service, owner cares, the food Cons: missed takeout items more

ReRate, must read 8/21/2002

i rate this resturant before(subject: don't compare chinese food in utah to real chinese food) i wrote that article, because some people thinks Mandarin is the best chinese food in the nation. After eating there to see for myself what's the commotion about, i was surprise that the food did taste pretty good. I rate it up there with Little World, but one can't compare the two because they serve two different style of food. Little World offer foods that is for everyday eating for a chinese family, while Mandarian offers food that is more associate of eating for the purpose of celebrating, like eating at Aqua or Harris in san francisco. But i repeat, Mandarin does not come close to being the best chinese food in the Nation. The choice of foods offer in the menu is equivalent to an average chinese resturaunt in SF and LA. Chinese-food-is-so-much-more-then-what-Mandarin-offers.... more

Utah's Best 8/19/2002

Can't beat the Mandarin. We love the szechwan chicken noodles, the tofu with black bean sauce and all the fresh, fresh, fresh vegetables. The desserts are incredible, and a great reason to go there late night for just coffee and dessert. The hype about the wait is just hype. We always get right in when we go. Pros: fresh ingredients, knowledgeable staff, great desserts more
