Great food 4/9/2009

I am Chinese so I know where to find good Chinese food, Mandarin Gourmet meet my expectation. The staff are friendly and food come out quick. They actual serve a lot of authentic Chinese dishes if you know what to order. I also like the way that every dishes is freshly cook to order, so you can request like add extra of your favorite vegetables,tofu or other ingredient, and minus other vegetables or meat, less oil, no sugar, you name it. Price is fair, take out is fast and they can also delivery food to my house. If you like Chinese food you will like Mandarin Gourmet. more

Not for me 1/6/2009

I have some friends who really like Mandarin Gourmet but I do not understand why. I have been there several times with groups of people (never my choice) and I have not yet liked their food. They do make a neat bamboo wall calendar every year that my daughter likes. Otherwise, I can't think of any reason I'd ever go in there. more

Yucko! There are better places. 12/1/2008

I took my daughter in to eat thinking it would be really good, as it looks really good. It's not. The service was not that great and the food, well, I have had better. I wish we would have gone out for pizza. Anyhow, if you have to go, put lots of sauce like soy sauce on everything...that will help. The prices weren't so bad, but the food, well...sorry. more

Salty and oversauced 5/19/2008

I do not recommend this place. The food is over-salted and and they smother it in sauces. Not very authentic. Golden Gong is much better and cleaner. I took a peak at the MG and it was filthy! The bathroom was discussting too. more

Best Chinese food in the County! 10/16/2007

If you want a nice, quaint atmosphere with attentive service and excellent food for the value, I highly recommend the Mandarin Gourmet. Pros: Attentive staff, fantastic food, good value for the price. Cons: I just wish they'd get a bigger place, when it's busy it's a zoo! more

Okay Chinese food 9/14/2005

If you gotta eat Chinese food in San Luis Obispo, then you should go here. Their food is okay; however, authentic Chinese food diehards should avoid any type of Chinese food in San Luis Obispo.
