New owners, apparently cannot afford to purchase new fresh meat, serves plates with old meat that has a bad smell and accompanied with extremely bad service, but yet the gratuity is automatically added to your bill... I would not recommend to anyone. more

The owner for the restaurant has changed and with the owner changed the service and the food quality. I would highly recommend the restaurant. Not a good place for kids, but very good for everything else. more

The last time I payed a visit to Mandaloun was about a year ago, and I must say everything has changed. Let me start off by saying the food is sensational. It is probably one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in a while. Let me give you guys a quick visual, the meat literally melts in your mouth, the wine list is amazing, and you have a large choice of side orders to pick from. On Saturdays they have an amazing show lined up, filled with singers and dancers. It seemed like the entire time we were there something new was going on. This excitement even got our group to jump on the dance floor and have an even better time. If anyone is visiting Glendale, I think they should make it a priority to visit Mandaloun, they will not be disappointed. Awful! On a Saturday night, we had no choice but to order the $50 prix fixe. When we called to ask about reservations, no one told us that there was no menu on Saturdays and that we had no choice but to receive this $50 ""entertainment package."" No one asked if we had any dietary restrictions. There was no wine list -- not even if you were willing to order a bottle -- only a choice between a glass of chardonnay or merlot (pronounced ""mer-LOTT"" by our hostess). \r \r First there was the stale, cold, grocery store-bought pita bread, followed by a plate of greasy appetizers with ham and cheese slices. Then we got courses consisting of a three salty chicken wings with plain white rice, something that tasted like the inside of a chicken potpie (i.e., cream of mushroom soup with cheese and chicken bits), and some beef and pork kebab. (The beef kebab were salty but reasonably tasty.) Then, for dessert, a fruit plate consisting of mostly underripe melon and grapes that tasted like they hadn't been washed. It was like bad buffet food from some tacky Lebanese wedding. The waitress didn't even ask if we eat pork (we don't, but we didn't think to let her know, given that most of the Middle East doesn't eat pork either). Even though the restaurant was nearly empty, the service was so slow that it took over two hours before the check finally came, at last liberating us from an experience so awful that we burst into laughter once we got outside. \r \r I only wish it hadn't been such a costly lesson. I guess it might be a reasonably fun time for the local Armenian-American crowd that seems to be its staple clientele, but hugely disappointing for anyone interested in good Lebanese food. Rarely have I been so disappointed in a dining experience. We could have had much better food for 1/2 to 1/3 of the price at any hole-in-the-wall Middle Eastern joint. My wife and I visited Mandaloun and our first trip was a good experience. Food: portion was generous, flavor on the mark, nothing spectacular but better than one would generally expect. Decor: beautiful patio, light airy comfortable warm. Service: good, with a little bit of ""coaching"". The second visit was with a VERY large party (40) and it sucked. We went back for a third visit with some friends, and it was the same experience as our first time. So good for couples or small groups, TERRIBLE for large parties. Well, to each its own. I read the negative reviews and I'm surprised. My boyfriend and I just went yesterday and we had a blast, but perhaps it is because my boyfriend is half Lebanese and we actually know Lebanese food well enough to recognize and know the name of each dish. \r \r Mandaloun has a set menu at a set price every Friday and Saturday, because they also have music and a belly dancing show, so they sell it as a package. It is not cheap, but it is not out of this world expensive either.\r \r We ate until we couldn't eat anymore, and it is not true that they serve the same quantity of food no matter how big is the table. We were two on a table, next to a table of 10, and it was easy to see that they served dishes according to the amount of people seated.\r \r I loved the experience, danced to Lebanese music, drank for the first time Arak - the Lebanese wine, and felt I was attended to all night long. more

I have had very few bad dining experiences and this ranks right up there with the lowest of them. Dinner at McDonald's would have been more satisfying. We arrived at 8:30pm on a Saturday, a group of eight with a reservation. We were asked to bring our own liquor which we did. Our table was already covered with 12 cheap, half portion appetizers (yogurt, cheese, olives, salad, ham, hummus etc.) Everything is served for the table, since Saturday is fix prix menu only for $50 per person, an outrageous price considering what we got. We got two hot appetizers one was mushrooms and cheese, the other one was mozzarella sticks. It's very hard to stay hungry at a Middle Eastern restaurant because there usually so much food, but we left hungry that night. After 2 hours of waiting for anything to show up, we were eating pita bread with feta cheese. Our server vanished after the appetizers and we were left to watch other people eating their food. Finally at 10:00pm the waiter brought us one plate of chicken and beef barbeque for the table. We were so fed up, we didn't even eat much of salty undercooked meat which came with nothing, not even rice. Dessert was a meager dinner plate of grapes and sliced melons for the table which came at midnight along with coffee. They had about six waiters covering about 25 tables. They had soda and water in pitchers on the table, so we didn't die of thrist at least. The floor show was a bunch of scantily clad amateur dancers with the male patrons stuffing their bras full of dollar bills. There was an amateur singer and very loud recorded music. We were so lightheaded that we accidentally walked out without paying the check, and no one noticed. We got a call the next day and they admitted that we were badly short changed because they seated 3 large parties before us without reservations. Yet they still asked for the full bill amount knowing full well that we only got a tiny portion of the menu. Pros: ok decor, ok food assuming you get to eat any of it. i've never had a more frustrating dinner experience. we were seated at a giant table that we only filled half of. it was impossible for any dinner conversation. the maitre'd refused to seat us at any of their smaller tables, though there were at least 3 available. the waiter did not inform us of what the prix fix consisted of, give us the wine list, or answer our questions. we were there for 3 hours, and were ready to leave after the first hour. i also found dinner to be about three times overpriced. if you go on the weekend, be prepared for a long, noisy, endeavor. i hear they're much better during the week. The food is wonderful, but I was never made to feel welcome. From the maitre d' to the servers, I was made to feel as if I didn't belong. I didn't find the cost outrageous for the quality. If the service was friendly, the experience would be very good. Pros: food, decor Cons: service more

Mandaloun is absolutely beautiful inside, and the food is also good. However, we found that the service was not to our expecations especially for the prices they were charging. As a non Middle Eastern person who loves the food and culture I was very dissappointed. I do not often experience an unfriendly greeting at an ethnic establishment, however, at Mandaloun the experience was one that was shocking. The host was very rude and unkind, the service was extremely unprofessional, and to top things off the prices for common dishes was outrageous. For a person who does not have high expectations, only appreciates good food and pleasant atmosphere, I must say this was one I will unfortunately never forget. ALL IN ALL A BAD EXPERIENCE! more
