Best

This place is truly one of a kind! Where else can you have the most exquisite steak (or chicken or seafood!) in a classic Rat-Pack style Char House? This is the best restauran...

Worst

I'm surprised at the popularity of this steak house as our entire party of 5 were underwhelmed at the quality of the steaks. They were average at best. Nice thick cuts, but flavor...

Best Steak in Town 1/2/2006

Never a disappointment. Where else can you start off your meal with a bowl of tomatoes and pickles and end your evening listening to a lounge band? The food is simple and delicious. Pros: Great Steak, Great atmosphere, Good drinks Cons: busy, service more

A truly wonderful place to dine... 7/11/2005

I am origionally from England and have been living here since I married my Husband last September. We celebrated the anouncement of our engagement combined with my Husbands Birthday two years ago. This was my very first time at Mancini's.All I can say is people are treated as individual people, not customers. The service is excellent and the food.I absolutely loved the experience of my first time at Mancini's. We dined there again when we went to make arrangements for our wedding reception. And all I can say is this...Nick is an awsome person. He had a bottle of champagne and a cake bought to our table and congratulated us.This was very much unexpected and a wonderful surprise to us.But that's Nick. We did have our wedding reception there and it was beautiful. All our guests loved the service and food.Nothing was too much trouble. Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking, Wonderful food Cons: Nothing more

Great place 6/6/2005

Mancini's is a great place to get a good steak and evening out. I have been going there since I was a kid. Nick is always a gentlemen, as is his staff. I will never forget the time I went there for my birthday and did not tell them it was my b-day. Nick came out with a cake and everything. I still wonder to this day how he knew. Never showed ID, etc. It just goes to show what a classy individual Nick Mancini is. The food and ambience are pretty good, too. My favorite place in all the Twin Cities. Pros: Embience, Food, Nick Cons: Busy more

From Kitsch to Bad to Worse 2/19/2005

My dad would love this place. He smokes and has few remaining taste buds. If all food tastes the same to you and you love smoke, this is your place. SMOKE: Non-smokers must traverse the expansive smoking section in both directions. FOOD: Unchallenging. Vegetables: overcooked, over-buttered. Salad: lettuce with pale tomato wedge. Meat: un-seasoned, flavorless. Cooked incorrectly (x2). Bread: uninteresting. Dessert: No stomach to try. Ugh. Pros: Herring!, Inexpensive steaks, Pickle/Tomato bowls Cons: Ritz crakers. Really., Flavorless meat, Flavorless wine more

Can you say ""BEST STEAK IN TOWN"" 2/8/2005

I've been to all the fancy up-scale steak houses in town -- and for the money - NO one can touch this icon for consistent GREAT food -- the steaks are always to die for... and reasonable priced. it wont break the bank... you won't be disappointed. Pros: Great Food, Drinks, Dancing Cons: Dont take reservation more

Not worth the hype 8/19/2004

We recently went to Mancini's for a work function at my bosses request. We have heard such good htings aboutt he steaks etc. Quite honestly it was the filet there was the worst steak I have ever had. Ordered medium-rare, it had no flavor except that of a gas grill, it was dry, and was the most disgusting piece of meat I have ever encountered. The wait staff was friendly I will give them that. The lettuce is cheap, comes right out of a bag it seems, the mushrooms for the steak come right out of a can...again no flavor. Never will go back. more

The Best in the Mid-west 3/11/2004

I've been a regular guest at Mancini's for 15 years. I have always found the steaks (filets) to be exceptional, the service outstanding, and the environment to be warm and friendly. Once you become known as a customer, going to Mancini's is more like visiting your friend's home than just another restaurant. more

Mancinis 3/7/2004

A wonderful place to go and enjoy a special old time St Paul atmosphere. Not the best as far as the steaks go. Certainly not in the same league as Morton's of Chicago. Pros: priced right, good parking, good service more

Expected more 2/12/2004

Very nice, romantic setting... Unfortunately, food was disappointing. Salad was straight out of a bag. One of the steaks was good except for lack of seasoning. The other was quite overcooked and tough (""Tasted like a dry boot!""). For the price, I expected better. At least they gave us one meal free, and the service was generally good. Great place to go for drinks at the minimum. Pros: Good atmosphere Cons: , questionable quality more

Dining 1/25/2004

Nic: My wife and I thank you, for the BEST dining any one could ever have. Your personal service and staff are out of this world. Quality of food is next to none. Other restaurants could learn a lot from you!!! We would like to know is their another place I can buy your table wine? ( Copper Ridge ) is the one we bought. Need more. wildchildgeorge wild1mare more

customer 2/24/2003

Best steak house in St. Paul, the service is very good and the owners are always there to talk to their customers and finding out how your food was and if you don't like something they are willing to exchange it. more

Best Steak & Lobster 2/23/2003

I have had Lobster all over this country. I have yet to find anyone with better lobster than Nicks'. Great Steaks too!! Craig Wallin, Pizza Planet, Somerset, WI more

A Sopranoesque Steak house 1/27/2003

Nick Mancini puts out some of the best steaks you will find. I wholeheartedly recommend the petite filet because you will want to enjoy side dishes as well. When they ask if you want bread, hold out for the toasted variety. It is served hot and grilled and is much better than the standard fare. Some people would call the atmosphere dark and smoky. Others would call it intimate and retro. No matter which you decide you will have a good time at Mancinis. Pros: Great Value, Great Staff, Great food Cons: smoky, long wait more

moxie 1/13/2003

Never have i been treated better, I would never think twice about going anywhere else for a special occasion or just for fun. Pros: service, bread, ambiance Cons: cost, comfort, steak options more

Average at Best 1/13/2003

I'm surprised at the popularity of this steak house as our entire party of 5 were underwhelmed at the quality of the steaks. They were average at best. Nice thick cuts, but flavorless. I rarely use steak sauce, but I had to at Mancini's just to have a little flavor in the meat. Four of our party of 5 are from cattle country and are BIG steak eaters, so we know whereof we speak. Also, I noticed that it says online that you have a choice of potato... this was not true. We were offered only baked potatoes. Pros: Ambiance, Garlic Toast Cons: Average Meat Quality more

Good and personal 1/12/2003

The owner still comes out to greet each table and to ask if everything is OK. Real, personal, and down to earth service -- they care. Never had a bad meal there, food is always great. The only negative thing was the ambience, specifically the crackling music. They need to invest in an upgraded music system. more

Mancini's should be number 1 1/3/2003

Mancini's is a privately owned family business. They don't cheap out on the quality of the beef. They have been that way for decades. The fact that the steak is the best around and that it provides a nice family dinning atmosphere along with the fact that it is not a chain restaurant makes it the obvious Number 1. Pros: Ambience, Food, Service more

Good Food, GREAT Service 12/30/2002

My friends and I enjoy coming to Mancini's for the food, but we come back to see that great hostess! She makes every trip to Mancini's a special occasion. Her warm smile and friendly demeanor is in my opinion, Mancini's best feature! The steaks are good too. Pros: hostess, food, free cake Cons: smokey, water in plastic cups, hostess nights off more

Nothing tops Mancini's 12/19/2002

If you want steak then you want Mancini's. The filet and lobster combination is the best dish on the menu. While waiting for your food you are served fresh tomatoes and pickles with garlic bread, toasted upon request. If you want a fantastic steak and a very good time visit Mancini's, you will enjoy! Pros: great location, very homey feel, worth the wait Cons: sometimes crowded more

Magnifico! 12/18/2002

This is my all time favorite restaurant to eat at. My favorite part about eating there is the fresh pickles and tomatos that are at every table. I love to munch on them while I wait for my juicy steak to come! The price on some of the entrees are affordable for anyone. The waiting room is a must see! Pros: pickles, steak, ambience Cons: cheap lookin silverwa more
