Mama's Royal has been around forever. They have a long-running annual napkin art contest that turns up plenty of great local talent, and a wonderfully creative menu. I love seeing the specials; there's always something for weekend brunch that I've never thought of (or sometimes even heard of) before, and it's always good eats.
The service can be cranky, overrushed, and even inept. On the other hand, it can be brilliant and worthy of worship. The only way to make sure that you get good service is to become a regular and find out who you like, and request them - and I suggest that you do, because Mama's is worth it.
