The Malonga Casquelourd Arts Center in Downtown Oakland is one of the richest cultural treasures of the area. There are classes ranging from belly dancing to street funk to authentic and inspiring African drumming and dancing. The classes are for all age groups and skill levels. My only complaint is that the schedule of courses is not always listed or available. The Malonga center also has a theater for the events of the dance companies that practice there. Overall it is a worthwhile and positive place for those living in Oakland. Classes are usually at night and on weekends; this way, parking is available but at times not convenient. \r
Pros: Instructors are experts in their craft
Cons: Parking at times, maybe a language barrier depending on the class
