I was so excited to hear about The Makery on the Food Network. I have three young children that enjoy cooking and what better than a place to have them assemble their own cakes/cookies/etc. I signed up my children and two of their friends for their class. First, I was given the wrong information on the timing and day of class. When I showed up for the class, the kids decorated cookies with icing, crushed up Oreos and worms on top. The class lasted about 30 minutes and I paid $12/child. I wished I had bought the items and did it at home. Our second issue with The Makery occurred when my husband was requested by a colleague to make his grooms cake. My husband has started doing our childrens birthday cakes and they are quite elaborate. He is a novice but my husband is creative. He called The Makery to say he needed fondant, icing and other supplies to make his cake and he would stay there to assemble the cake. They told him they had plenty supplies and to head in. When he showed up, he was told he could not bring a sheet cake in to decorate and would not be able to assemble it there (which is understandable but should have been stated the day before). Also, they told him they did not have enough fondant for him to purchase. The day before the wedding this occurred. Unreliable service and information.
