Majestic Belly Dancing by Fariba 9/15/2010

Until recently, I had never taken belly dancing classes. I have taken dance in the past, but nothing like this. It was fun and something different. In a few weeks, I had learned a lot. The classes aren't big, which I like because the instructors were able to point out ways to correct and perfect each movement. It's a challenging activity to learn, but a whole lot of fun more

Horrible Experience 5/31/2010

This studio was difficult to get a hold of with poor responses and even worse courtesy and flexibility in schedule. Their website is out of date which made planning difficult. Everyone I spoke with via e-mail or phone was unpleasant. As a paying customer, I did not feel appreciated nor respected but more of a burden upon the establishment. I highly suggest avoiding this studio and their inflexibility and rudeness. more

I have taken lessons at both studios over a four year period, both studios offer excellent instruction, but at different paces.\r Habeeba's is more a step by step instruction. A student will master each step before moving on, so each dance takes longer to learn. Majestic teaches by routine (dance) you will learn a complete dance and then move to the next learning the basic steps as you go. If you catch on easily go to Majestic. If you like a slower pace go to Habeeba's. Both schools are excellent. class price is about the same for both more

Majestic Student 10/4/2009

I have been dancing with Fariba for a year now. After taking classes at Habeeba's for six month and only learning 1/2 of a dance routine, I decided to look somewhere else. I luckily found Fariba's and learned more in two sessions with her then I did at Habeeba's studio. Fariba herself teaches and loves what she does, giving women the opportunity to express themselves through dance, it is evident in every class she teaches. As a dancer in her dance troupe I am taken back by the rude comments made by Shelia. Fariba has taught me the steps and the technique I need to compose my own routines. Dancing with Fariba has open so many doors and opportunities for me to show case what I have learn and love to do. \r -Lindsay Jo- more

Majestic Belly Dancing- I love it! 10/3/2009

I have been a student at Majestic Belly Dancing for several years now. Before signing up for classes I did check out other teachers. I really liked the atmosphere and the teachers at Majestic. The owner of the studio is present for the majority of classes. Anytime there are other teachers, she is still there, monitoring the classes. I really liked that. It's so much fun and I feel I have learned a lot. While I chose not to perform, I have seen the Troupe in action. They ARE GREAT. My advice to anyone interested in lessons is to go and observe or take an introductory class. Then decide where to start. more

Majestic Belly Dancing,Real Belly Dancing 10/3/2009

As a staff member of Majestic Belly Dancing Studio, I am shocked to see Sheila W.'s "review" First - we've haven't had a student named "Sheila" . It seems that for some reason there is a lot of negative and inappropriate tactics used by some to promote one studio over another. This baffles me. Belly Dance is an art form. People take lessons for various reasons. Some desire to become Professional dancers, some just want to have fun and exercise. Those students who wish to perform are given the chance to. When someone tries to do their very best, they are encouraged. Those that wish to achieve Pro status or enter "contests" are given honest feedback on their efforts. All of our students work hard at their interest. I have enjoyed watching students from other studios and while there is a difference in teaching styles, I have never felt the need to speak poorly of their results. There is room for everyone who wants to dance. It's supposed to be joyful and fun to share this interest. I am more

Fun, foy hobbists, but not for those who want a quality education 9/30/2009

I have been a long term belly dancr who was looking to take classes with a new instructor to improve my dancing. After an audition, Fariba promptly told me I was terrible at belly dance (not a good choice on her part, as I have danced in belly dancer competitions and been told I am quite a good dancer) She then began to tell me how her girls go pro after three years and, essentially, my years of dance training was a waste and I was essentially a beginner. If this were true it would have been a godsend to have found this studio... until you look at her girls dance. Her troupe is sloppy in choreography, lacks stage presence, and doesn't have any of the happiness and vitality you see in great dancers, like Fifi Abdou or Dina. I have no idea what her pros looks like, but of her troupe is any indication, I don't want to see them. I wish I could say something good about this studio, but honestly it seems like students are forced to go beyond their dance limits and then lack the technical sk more

For the serious dancer or for fun..this is THE PLACE 4/12/2008

After researching available classes in the Columbus area, a group of friends and I took several 10 week courses at Majestic Bellydancing. We LOVED IT. The classes are fantastic fun and extremely well taught. We learned much more than we expected to.\r No one in our group had prior dance training but Fariba had a way of coaxing out the dancers within. I highly recommend this studio to anyone interested in learning about this beautiful art. For the serious dancer or just for fun, CHECK IT OUT! more

An authentic education 10/20/2007

I learned so much more with Fariba in ten weeks than I learned in six months at Habeebas. The studio is nice and the class sizes are relatively small, allowing for ample room to move, unlike Habeebas. Fariba, herself, is teaching the classes (with her advanced students helping sometimes) which made it much more authentic--especially considering the fact that she knows what she is doing. Many times at Habeebas I got the impression that, while Habeeba may have been a wonderful dancer, the level of her instructors left much to be desired. Many times the instructors did not know quite what they were doing (had to consult book) and now I know that I was even taught certain movements completely wrong (shimmies). If you want to learn a routine go to Habeebas; if you want to learn how to belly dance go to Faribas (Majestic Belly dance). more

Good. 6/6/2005

I learned quite a bit during my stint at Majestic Belly Dancing by Fariba, but I still preferred Habeebas when it came down to it. Their space is very nice and their instructors are very friendly, but it lacked the magic spark that really connected me to Habeebas as the place for me and for my bellydancing. I would not discourage you from trying Majestic Belly Dancing by Fariba out, though! more
