We had to ask for the sushi menu several times, got our menu's taken before ordering, which made us wait 15 minutes before I waiter returned to remember we hadn't ordered (after saying "Your food will be right out". After returning to clarify our order several times, we recieved our food, which was decent - nothing special. I really enjoyed the atmoshphere and location, but having those two positives with poor service and sub par food doesn't add up to the prices they charge. more

Mai Thai's huge selection is delicious. 9/27/2010

When I visited Mai Thai, the atmosphere was relaxed, service was amazing, and the food was the best Thai food I've had in Boise by far. They have a large vegetarian or vegan selection, dim sum, lots of sushi rolls to choose from, and everything in between. I had the Thai tacos, which were different and very delicious, and the pineapple fried rice which was served in a generous portion and the flavor was amazing. Overall it was a very good experience and I would have no problem visiting several times. more

I think this restaurant has a good atmosphere. Although some items are okay and some are very good. I think it depends on the cook, if they have experience in cooking thai food, just because your thai doesn't mean you are a good cook..they have to be train to cook just like other chefs do...But the advantages are you are used to that taste so that helps. more

Best Thai restaurant in Boise 5/22/2006

I feel Mai Thai is one the best restaurants in Boise with its extensive vegetarian choices, friendly staff and serene ambiance. I dint try the lunch menu (different from the dinner menu) until recently and I am happy that I did. I always order the vegetarian drumsticks for appetizers which are simply good. The meat in any of the entrées can be substituted either with tofu or meat substitute ( made out of mushrooms etc). I have always had a satisfying experience at Mai Thai. They have recently opened a sushi place 'koi'. more

I've only been here once for dinner but I wasn't impressed. That's not to say the food wasn't good, it was just there are many other Thai restaurants that are just as good (or better), and cheaper. The service was poor and it took forever for the food to be served. The atmosphere is really cool though, so I think it's definitely worth checking out for that. I just would check it out for drinks during happy hour instead of during their busy dinner hours. more

Good, but definitely not the best 3/27/2006

While there is nothing inherently wrong with Mai Thai, there's nothing quite right about it either. The atmosphere is lively and the drinks are colorful. I would venture to call it a cocktail bar that just happens to serve Thai food rather than an actual Thai food resturant. If you're into an evening of atmosphere, this is the place to be. However, if you'd rather just get some tasty Thai food in a relaxed setting, there are better places. And the prices at said places are less terrifying as well. more

The Best Thai Food In Boise!! 9/21/2005

My husband and I were Downtown and decided to try the Mai Thai Restaurant one evening. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, so we waited in the bar. This is a very trendy spot, more trendy than I thought Boise had, so I was pleasantly surprised. The food at the restaurant is TO DIE FOR!! Everything is super fresh and delicious! The chef and the assistants are all from Thailand, so you know the recipes are authentic. The service and prices are fabulous also!! The owner of the restaurant was there talking with the customers, making sure everything was great! This man knows his stuff about hospitality and the restaurant business! I HIGHLY recommend this place to ANYONE who loves Thai food, or those who would like to try it! It will definitely spoil you!! more
