sub-par food, decent service, sub-par price, nobody there! 6/30/2008

well a buddy of mine and my gf came here around 4 or so. there was nobody there! i can understand that its not quite dinner time and lunch was over but sheesh... how awkward. the food wasnt great, acceptable at best but pricey considering the lack of portion size and taste. the location must be poor cuz its in a little corner with its back faced to the street. the all you can eat bar was lacking in variety and taste. it was actually quite sad. i feel bad for saying such negative things b/c its like one of those restaurants you feel sorry for and you wanna help them out, but you definitely dont wanna be the one to do it. im sorry... but this place is pathetic more

No customer. 7/14/2007

We were the only one there. The service was accommodating as we had a baby. The foods leave something to be desired. Grandma did not even eat what she ordered. more

Please avoid this place! 11/16/2006

My boyfriend and I came here before and it was pretty decent. The food was piping hot and the staff were very friendly. When we went back last weeked, it was under new management. Walking in there was only one other customer eating alone. There were two young boys sitting behind the counter chatting. A young girl who was standing outside chatting with her friend walked in immediately to seat us. We initially thought the young girl was a customer because she was dressed very casually; a black hooded sweat shirt and jeans. We ordered some sort of indian crepe, garlic naan, rice, and butter chicken. The indian crepe was pretty good, but the filling was odd. There were parts of the filling that were salty and other parts that were not; as if the chef got lazy and didn't want to mix the spices in evenly. We got our garlic naan along with our rice and butter chicken. The naan was burnt pretty badly, yet we used the sauce from the butter chicken to hide the burnt taste. The butter chicken was pretty decent; very creamy and plenty of tomato flavor. However, there was very few chicken pieces in that dish. The worst thing that we got was the rice. I really, truly believe they served us old rice. The rice was cold and clumpy. I eat rice every night and I can tell the difference between old rice and fresh rice. This rice was disgusting. Indian rice is ususally long grain, clump free, and with some spices in it. On yeah, I found something in it, a kernal of corn, and I'm sure the rice they served us was from there remaining lunch buffet! I will never go back there again and you shouldn't go there either. If you want nasty old, burnt Indian food, then go! But don't say I didn't warn you! Pros: The staff was mediocre Cons: Food was horrible. The amibience was killing me! Play some tv, some music, something! I heard the loud banging from next door and it drove me insane! more

A TRUE FEAST 1/31/2003

Having been to every Indian Resturant in Sacramento, and a few in other cities, the one that stands out with true taste is Maharaja Indian Resturant. The owner and staff are very efficient and the food...wowie. The resturant is a bit dark but does have Indian music in the background. As an added bonus there is a sweet shop in front. They cater and do parties on site. Try it....you will love it. Pros: taste, value, friendly Cons: bit dark more

Leftovers! 10/22/2002

You will be disappointed if you think you will get your moneys worth here. The lunch buffet is not even of a moderate quality. You get a choice of rice, bread, two types of chicken, three types of plain vegetarian dishes 1 is tomato, 2 is onion,3 is potato, and the salad is the first two mixed. That's all! The food looks pretty third world. The tandoori chicken has a bad taste to it(possibly old). I have been to India and I have seen the same quality there as in this restaurant. My group did not even finish our first serving. We paid anyway for this. Pros: Price, N/A, N/A Cons: Poor Quality of Food, Poor Service, Location more
