Editorial review from Citysearch 8/28/2013

I had to have a coil in one of my engine cylinders replaced. The team at Maguire was very fast in ordering the needed parts and setting up a date for the installation service, but the basic maintenance services I had done (an oil change, tire rotation) were terrible. The team put in the wrong type of oil and didn't rotate the tires correctly. I ended up having to take my car to Midas to have those things fixed. I probably won't be back to Maguire for basic service. The staff there is friendly and accommodating, but I think the dealership itself is run like a Disneyland theme park, concerned more with decor and giving clients roses and ice cream while they wait, rather than improving the development and quality of their mechanics and service garage. more

I have never been more frustrated in my life. A classic case of bait and switch with terms and price. The salesman gave me a price that they would work with and confermed the incentives that Ford was offering, only to find once that I was ready to sign with the little man in the back office that what the salesman said was a bunch of bunk. All of a sudden, he had a case of amnesia. Either the staff is trained poorly regarding product or they are incredibly dishonest and lack ethical value. After my experience, Mr Vanderpool, the GM, said to me that they try to seperate themself from other dealers and they have, they are worse. more

IMO Mauire Customer Care is a sham 3/26/2012

As an initial matter, and in my experience, Maguire Ford's promises of customer care are a sham. The toll free number they publish for their customer care representative is a disconnected line. Tim Maguire never answered my letter (sent to his email address) and his sales manager did not return my call. Below is my letter to Tim Maguire: Tim Maguire Maguire Ford Route 13 Ithaca, new York 14850 Dear Mr. Maguire: On Saturday, I visited your dealership for the purpose of buying a new car. To that end I test drove three vehicles and took my car out of storage, obtained a dealer plate and drove the car to your dealership for a trade-in estimate. During the course of my three hours at your dealership, my sales representative disappeared twice. The first time she was working with another sales representative and another client. The second time she just disappeared and I was unable to find her. Thereafter I left. I never received the appraisal for my car, nor did I speak to my sales representative after we returned from returning my car to my home. Thereafter, at approximately 4:00 PM I started calling the sales office. After three attempts, and no answer, I called the service department. Service informed me that Sales reps were in fact still at the dealership and he thereafter transferred me to “Dan” who he identified as the sales manager. Instead of reaching a person, I was only able to speak to Dan’s voice mail. I informed Dan’s vm of the facts as recited in this letter, identified myself and told him I would contact you in Monday. Nonetheless, I have not heard from Dan, or anyone else at your dealership. As I was required to listen to the five minute “we care” sales talk at the beginning of my visit to Macquire, I find the experience I had especially troubling. In any event, I thought I would take a minute and let you know that such poor treatment of customers not only costs your dealership a sale, but also results in poor publicity for your company. Very Truly Yours, more

great service and professional and friendly staff 9/7/2007

I recently had my 1999 Ford F-150 serviced at Maguire Ford and they got me right in with no troubles...I was able to drive right in and actualy talk to someone that new what they were talking about instead of a clerk that just took my name and truck info. I was able to tlak directly with the TEAM Leader in charge of the guys working on my truck.....John Rapone was great and very friendly..while I waited in there lounge I walked on to the lot to check out new Trucks and was greet with a well dress professional guy named Clayton and he was eay going and did not pressure and actualy answered some questions that I had on some new trucks even thoug he new I was not buying anything...when I walked back through the showroom to the service department all the sales people looked professional and upbeat. The cashier told me that my truck was done and where it was parked. When I went out I found that my truck was not fixed but WASHED...they washed my car I looked on the bill and they did not charge me for it...I asked one of the guys out back why and he said ""that is what we do, its magurie's"". Pros: easy location and friendly staff more
